The flex-fuel designation means this van can run on E85 ethanol, regular gasoline, or any blend in between giving you real flexibility at the pump and potential cost savings depending on fuel prices in your area. The 8-speed automatic is a significant upgrade over older Transit Connect configurations, delivering smoother highway cruising, better fuel economy, and more responsive acceleration when you're loaded up and merging onto the freeway. Front-wheel drive keeps the van manageable and predictable in everyday driving conditions around San Diego's urban streets, highway corridors, and coastal neighborhoods. It also helps reduce maintenance complexity compared to all-wheel-drive setups fewer drivetrain components means fewer things to service over time. ===== Ford Transit Connect Features and Interior ===== ==== Built for Work ==== The XL trim is the core commercial configuration of the Transit Connect Cargo Van stripped of unnecessary frills and focused entirely on functionality. The cargo area is the star of the show here, offering an open, van-style load floor that's easy to organize with shelving, cargo dividers, or custom upfitting for your specific trade or business. The driver's area is clean and straightforward, with easy-to-use controls that let you focus on the job rather than fumbling through menus. The Transit Connect's compact footprint compared to a full-size Transit or a competitor like the Ram ProMaster City means you can park on city streets, access tighter job sites, and navigate San Diego's busy neighborhoods from Downtown and Mission Valley to Chula Vista and El Cajon without the headaches that come with a larger commercial van. ===== Ford Transit Connect Reliability and Ownership ===== The Ford Transit Connect has built a strong reputation in the commercial and small-business community over many years of production. The 2020 model year benefits from Ford's continued refinement of the platform, and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder is known for durability when maintained properly. Owners consistently praise the Transit Connect's efficiency, its ease of driving in urban environments, and the relatively low cost of routine maintenance.
