This 2000 Honda S2000 Base is a two-seat roadster built around a focused driving package that keeps the equipment list straightforward. Honda paired the compact body with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive arrangement and a close-coupled cabin that leaves little space between the occupants and the mechanical components. The car uses a manually operated convertible top, and the open body style is central to its design. The exterior shape is clean and compact, with short overhangs, a long hood, and a low stance that reflects the proportions used on this model from the factory. Panels, glass, and trim are arranged with a clear emphasis on simplicity rather than ornamentation, and the overall presentation matches the car's purpose as a small, lightweight performance model. This example includes leather seats, which add a more finished surface to the interior than the standard cloth upholstery found on many cars in this class. The cabin is arranged for two occupants, and the seating position is low relative to the body sides and windshield frame. Controls are placed within easy reach of the driver, with a straightforward dash design and clearly grouped switches. Materials and finishes are selected to suit a roadster rather than a larger touring car, and the interior keeps unnecessary details to a minimum. Storage space is limited, as expected, and the passenger compartment remains compact, with the kind of dimensions that align with the car's size and purpose. This example also includes keyless entry, which provides remote access to the vehicle without requiring the key to be inserted at the door. The feature is one of the few convenience items noted on this car, and it fits the relatively simple equipment list. The body structure and doors are sized for the small footprint of the car, and the opening dimensions reflect the limited cabin width. The windshield is steeply raked, the side glass is short, and the rear deck is low, leaving the vehicle with proportions that are easy to identify. Exterior hardware remains restrained, with the design avoiding excess trim and keeping attention on the basic elements required for daily use. This S2000 uses Honda's naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a unit known for its high-revving character and compact packaging. Power is delivered through a six-speed manual transmission, which is the only gearbox offered on this model. The drivetrain sends output to the rear wheels, and the chassis is tuned for a responsive road feel rather than relaxed cruising. Four-wheel independent suspension, ventilated front disc brakes, and rear disc brakes are part of the standard mechanical package. The steering is direct and unassisted by the wide body or soft isolation found in larger cars, and the wheelbase, track width, and overall mass work together to support the car's sharp on-road behavior. Inside, the instrumentation remains clear and centered on driver information, with a tachometer placed prominently and the rest of the gauges arranged for quick reference.
