*1991 Lotus Elan SE* Front-wheel drive, a turbocharged Isuzu-built engine, and Peter Stevens styling made the M100-generation Elan an unusual entry into the Lotus catalog when it launched in 1990 a genuine departure from the marque's rear-drive tradition. This 1991 example is finished in green with a black soft top over a Magnolia leather interior, showing 63,000 miles. Power comes from the 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4, producing 162 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque and sent to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual, good for a 0-60 mph time in the mid-6-second range despite a curb weight of just over 2,200 lbs. Factory equipment on this SE includes 16-inch wheels, pop-up headlights, heated door mirrors, power windows, and air conditioning a genuinely comprehensive list for a small British roadster of this era. The car has been fitted with a Bluetooth-compatible Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 head unit paired with Infinity Reference Series speakers, along with a MagnaFlow muffler for a slightly livelier exhaust note. Ownership documentation shows the previous custodian has invested significantly in the car, including a full repaint to address faded original paint and a complete interior reupholstery. Mechanical work over the same period has been extensive, covering the convertible top, valve cover and intake manifold gaskets, spark plugs, fuel injectors, suspension bushings, thermostat and cooling system components, and a reconditioned cam angle sensor, with service continuing as recently as this year. Combining a genuinely unconventional chapter of Lotus history with a well-documented Elan, this Elan SE offers an accessible entry point into the marque for a buyer drawn to its lightweight, front-drive turbo formula a car built to reward a twisty road rather than a straight line.
