Up for sale is my 2002 BMW 540i, a super-rare and well-preserved example of BMW's legendary E39 chassis. This car has just 70,324 miles, has never been in an accident, and has had only two owners in its 23-year life. I purchased it in 2021 from the original owner with 66,000 miles and have added just 4,000 miles over the last four years. This 540i has been meticulously maintained. When I bought it, I brought it straight to a specialty BMW shop for a full service and spent over $6,000 to ensure everything ran perfectly. The work included a brake fluid service, power steering service, new engine and cabin air filters, new engine mounts, new door seals, and a full refresh of the cooling systemaddressing the known weak points of these cars. The result is a mechanically sound car that runs flawlessly, throws no codes, and is ready for many more miles. The A/C blows ice cold and everything works as it should. The interior is exceptionally clean for its age. The black leather seats are in great condition, showing minimal wear, and the wood trim has been upgraded to Alcantara-wrapped pieces for a sportier, more modern look. I have the original wood-grain trim and will include it with the sale, along with the original head unit. For convenience, the head unit has been upgraded to an Avon AVANT 4, which maintains the factory appearance while adding modern features including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, Bluetooth audio, and hands-free calling. Cosmetically, the car presents very well, with only a few small dings on the front and rear bumpers and a cosmetic gash on the front passenger tire/rim (see photos). Overall, the paint and body are excellent for a 2002 car. This 540i is perfect for a BMW enthusiast who wants an increasingly hard-to-find, unmolested E39 with low miles, documented maintenance, and tasteful upgrades. It's ready to enjoy as a weekend car, a collector piece, or a well-sorted daily driver.
