As the 2026 model year rolls around, we’re still anticipating the new 3 Series to offer a choice of turbocharged 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines. And maybe even a plug-in hybrid. Plus an awesome BMW M3 high-performance variant that we will review separately.
A typical 3 Series should also have a ride quality that’s composed and precise, while being comfortable enough for daily use. Just like the outgoing model.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
One thing about the 3 Series that never fails to impress us is how its engines can be both muscular and fuel-efficient. The current 330i’s 4-cylinder engine makes a decent 255 horsepower yet achieves 29 mpg in combined city/highway driving. Even if BMW doesn’t push this particular envelope, those figures would remain perfectly respectable.

The outgoing 3 Series (the seventh generation) debuted for the 2019 model year, so it’s getting close to time for a complete redesign. Which was probably just the start of a headache for <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/">BMW</a>. After all, when a car is as capable and well-respected as the 3 Series, how does one improve on a benchmark? We’ll get to find out at some point. In the meantime, let’s look at what we already know and make some educated guesses on what we don’t.

Pricing - Static

The main rival to the 3 Series is the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/c-class/">Mercedes-Benz C-Class</a>, which will be priced similarly to its Munich counterpart. As mentioned above, the new 3 Series will no doubt employ turbocharged 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines. Quite possibly augmented by mild hybrid systems. BMW discontinued a plug-in hybrid drivetrain for the seventh generation, but may well reconsider that choice this time around.
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
BMW’s new-vehicle and powertrain warranties last four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. This is typical among European luxury car marques. Roadside assistance is included for that period, with unlimited mileage. Scheduled maintenance is free for three years or 36,000 miles, which is not so typical.
<h3>Safety</h3>
The outgoing 3 Series wasn’t noticeably generous with its standard-issue driver assistance features. This may or may not change for the 2026 version. Nevertheless, standard equipment should include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, plus automatic high beams.

This 2026 model should represent the start of a new generation of 3 Series. No doubt the tech will be fresh and desirable. There could also be an all-electric 3 Series, as BMW resurrects and reapplies the i3 name. We’ll review that separately. And we will update this review when more information is released.

The 2026 Volvo ES90 is an all-new, all-electric midsize luxury car with several distinct traits.

The entry-level version of the new ES90 comes with a single electric motor driving the rear wheels with a respectable 329 horsepower, and accelerating from standstill to 60 mph in a claimed (and equally respectable) 6.7 seconds.
The first Twin Motor version brings all-wheel drive into the mix. This car enjoys 442 hp and hits 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. The most powerful Volvo ES90 is the Twin Motor Performance variant, with a mighty 670 horsepower and the ability to reach 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Volvo vehicles usually put an emphasis on ride comfort rather than on-the-edge handling, and they’re extremely good at being smooth. We expect the standard ES90 to follow in those tire tracks, while Volvo also offers an adaptive air suspension for even greater comfort.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
Until official figures come in, we’re estimating that the maximum range of the 2026 ES90 will be somewhere between 300 and 350 miles.
Using a DC fast charger, the Twin Motor models can go from 10% capacity to 80% in 20 minutes. That’s on a par with most other fast-charging EVs. The single-motor version should also be quite quick.

Sleek yet Elevated Exterior

Because there’s a battery under the floor, the new ES90 rides a little higher than a typical sedan. That’s a good thing for getting in and out. We think it also makes the ES90 look more individual. The car avoids the typical 3-box approach of a sedan as well, by ditching the conventional trunk in favor of a hatchback. It’s still sleek, however. One look at the profile tells us that.
That decision wasn’t made purely for looks. Volvo says the ES90 is the most aerodynamically efficient car it has ever produced. Remembering those squared-off wagons from the 1980s, we realize this wasn’t a particularly high bar. Still, anything that goes toward maximizing an electric vehicle’s range is a welcome addition.

Our Favorite Features and Tech

Electrochromatic roof 
A panoramic glass roof is standard, while this option can make that roof more opaque or transparent at the touch of a button.
Advanced air purifier 
Four-zone climate control is standard in the 2026 ES90. This also includes an air purifier that filters out 99% of the allergens from grass, trees, and pollen.
Bowers &amp; Wilkins audio 
The highest trim level offers the option of a 25-speaker Bowers &amp; Wilkins system. We think B&amp;W stuff is excellent and this one is enhanced by Dolby Atmos. Some of those speakers are in the headrests and ceiling.
Over-the-air updates 
Yes, many electric vehicles (and quite a few combustion conveyances) have this update feature for software, navigation, etc. But we still really like the idea that a car can improve even after it’s been purchased.
Lidar 
There’s a little bump front and center of the ES90’s roof. This is a lidar sensor (light detection and ranging) that, according to Volvo, goes beyond human perception to help avoid potential calamities.
Outboard rear seats 
The new ES90 offers heated/ventilated/reclining rear seats for superb passenger comfort.

Neat Interior

Uncluttered to the point of sparse, the cabin of the new ES90 is at least pleasant to look at and seems of sufficiently high quality. Volvo seats are renowned for their comport and support, and we don’t expect the ES90 to suddenly go all sporty and firm on us.
The Google-based infotainment system uses a nicely sized 14.5-inch touchscreen, while drivers look at a 9-inch digital instrument cluster. Or a head-up display if they’re in the top trim.
One thing that might hit a faint note of disappointment is rear legroom. The gasoline-powered S90 has a class-leading 40.4 inches. And since the ES90 is based on a 3-row SUV but only has two rows of seating, then we don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect more than 35.4 inches. But there it is, two inches short of the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron.
Luggage space behind those rear seats measures 15 cubic feet, opening out to 26 cubic feet when they’re folded down. Decent dimensions, but beaten once again by the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron. A small storage area under the hood can take the charging cable.

The new ES90 is another step toward Volvo’s goal of an all-electric lineup. It comes with many typical <a href="https://www.kbb.com/volvo/">Volvo</a> attributes like elegant design and smart ergonomics, wrapped in a protective shell. The company has already been doing good things with its other electric vehicles, raising hopes for this next level of EV evolution. We’ll be updating this review whenever we obtain more information.

We expect the 2026 Volvo ES90 to start at around $75,000.

Battery and Efficiency

The single-motor version of the 2026 ES90 employs a battery with a usable capacity of 88 kilowatt-hours (kWh). Twin Motor models use a larger battery with 102 kWh of usable capacity. The ES90 has 800-volt architecture, which is the best technology at present.
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
Volvo provides bumper-to-bumper limited protection and powertrain protection for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is typical among European luxury vehicle manufacturers. Batteries are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. The company also includes free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles.
<h3>Safety</h3>
Standard safety tech in the 2026 ES90 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian/cyclist detection, and adaptive cruise control with a lane centering function.

The 2026 ES90 <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/2026-volvo-es90-new-all-electric-flagship-sedan/">is completely new</a>. It’s based on the same platform as the similarly all-electric EX90 midsize luxury SUV. Compared with the outgoing gasoline-powered Volvo S90 sedan, the ES90 is slightly taller and has a wheelbase 1.5 inches longer, although the car is shorter overall. And it’s not actually a sedan &#8212; it has a hatchback, like the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron.

The 2026 Audi A6 represents an all-new generation of the company’s midsize luxury sedan. It comes with a combustion engine, all-wheel drive, and plenty of tech.

Power, Ride and Handling

There’s only one engine in the 2026 A6 (so far), a turbocharged V6 making 362 horsepower &#8212; up from the previous generation’s 355 hp. That should make it quicker in the run from standstill to 60 mph by about half a second, so we’re expecting a time close to 4.5 seconds.
For comparison, the 375-hp BMW 540i xDrive hits 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, and the Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic has the same power as the BMW while reaching 60 mph 0.1 of a second sooner.
All-wheel drive is standard in the 2026 A6, and an adaptive air suspension &#8212; with the ability to go from comfortable to sporty &#8212; is an option. Even more intriguing, this feature is controllable through voice commands, so drivers can raise or lower ride height just by saying so. Rear-wheel steering is another option, enhancing maneuverability and making the car feel smaller than it really is. It’s also available in the 5 Series and E-Class.
Audi also adds that the engine and transmission mounts in the new A6 have been developed for a smoother, quieter ride. The last time we drove an A6, we loved its fluidity and its mix of comfort and control. If this one is even smoother, that’s great, but it was hardly a problem area.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The outgoing V6-powered A6 achieves 25 mpg in combined city/highway driving. This new version should be in the same ballpark, which is already populated by the Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic. The BMW 540i xDrive manages 28 mpg combined.

Aerodynamic Exterior

Audi says its new A6 sedan is the most aerodynamic combustion-powered vehicle it has ever produced, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.23 (that’s good &#8212; the current Toyota Prius comes in at 0.27). Those typically clean Audi lines and well-judged proportions aren’t merely stylish.
The standard alloy wheel size is 19 inches, with 20-inch and 21-inch rims among the options. We also think it’s kind of cool how the 4-ring badge at the front straddles the leading edge of the hood and the top of the grille.

Digital Stage 
This unit consists of an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen. A 10.9-inch display is also optional for the front passenger, who can help with navigation or just amuse themselves with streamed content without distracting the driver.
Bang &amp; Olufsen audio 
A highly respected audiophile brand and a particular favorite of ours, the top B&amp;O system offered in the new A6 is an 810-watt/20-speaker setup, with speakers in the front headrests to create a personal surround-sound effect.
Panoramic glass roof 
The new A6 midsize luxury sedan comes with a roof that’s virtually all glass. Not only that, it can go from transparent to opaque through six electronically controlled levels.

Tech-Rich Interior

New technology in the latest A6 means the now almost-obligatory single-unit display with more than one screen. In Audi-land, this is known as the Digital Stage, with an instrument cluster, infotainment touchscreen, and an optional third display for the front passenger. We’d be inclined to say that Audi has caught up with current interior design trends but hasn’t really moved them along. Even so, we think the new A6 looks great inside.
It should be remarkably quiet as well, since sound insulation is improved by 30% over the outgoing model, which no one accused of being noisy. Trunk space measures 17.8 cubic feet, big enough for two large suitcases to fit side by side. Even so, the 5 Series and E-Class both have slightly larger trunks.

This new A6 is proof that luxury sedans can withstand an onslaught of SUVs. It joins a small class, yet each member is strong in all the right ways &#8212; including style, comfort, tech, prestige, and driving enjoyment.
We also noticed <a href="https://www.kbb.com/audi/">Audi</a> seems to have already ditched its naming system where cars with even numbers in their names were all-electric (like the Q4 e-tron), while cars with odd numbers (like the A3) would use gasoline power. The new A6 has a turbocharged V6, while dispensing with any 4-cylinder engines the outgoing A6 offered.
It’s the timing we find most interesting, however. In the past, generations of the A6 have been out of sync with chief rivals &#8212; the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. So when new models of those made their debut, the A6 was halfway through a cycle and could only offer a refresh in response. This time around, both rivals only debuted their latest iterations two model years ago, making this A6 much more competitive.

We expect the 2026 Audi A6 to start at around $63,000.

The HR-V is usually about mid-pack in terms of horsepower and acceleration. The CX-30 is the king of the hill in this regard with its standard 191 hp.
Although the pony count is currently in question, we suspect whatever the horsepower increase might be, it won’t shoot the HR-V to the top of the subcompact-SUV performance chart. However, we think the driving dynamics will remain the same, which is good news. We’ve found the HR-V drives with more sophistication than its price would suggest. It corners confidently, and there’s just a splash of sportiness aided by steering with satisfying heft and predictability.
However, in our experience, the HR-V is at its best when moving leisurely about the world. Outward vision is good; it’s as comfortable on the highway as anything in the class. Its tidy dimensions are ideal for getting around town and negotiating parking lots. Like the Honda Civic on which it’s based, the HR-V’s pervasive refinement makes it one of the most pleasurable vehicles in its class.
Fuel Economy
Although it may change for 2026, the HR-V’s fuel economy is more acceptable than remarkable. With all-wheel drive (which most buyers choose), the last HR-V achieved 27 mpg in combined city/highway driving. Compare this with the comparable all-wheel-drive Toyota Corolla Cross, returning 30 mpg combined, and the Kia Seltos, returning 29 mpg. Front-drive versions of the HR-V fared one mpg better.

Compelling Curb Appeal

Who would have thought that some of the most affordable new SUVs also sport really attractive designs? For example, we admire the looks of the Hyundai Kona and Mazda CX-30. And this Honda HR-V. Like the interior, it comes across as more expensive than it is. There’s a presence to it while not being polarizing. At 15 feet long, the HR-V is also one of the larger contenders in this subcompact class.

Smart Entry with Walk-Away Auto Lock 
“Did I lock the car?” This question invariably springs to mind just as your plane takes off and you see all the long-term parking lots becoming smaller. With this feature, which is standard in the top two trims, such angst becomes a thing of the past.
Honda Sensing 
Standard on every HR-V, Honda Sensing is the bundle of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies. It includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, and lane departure warning with steering assistance.
Rear side-impact airbags 
Among the HR-V’s eight airbags, rear side-impact airbags are standard across the lineup. That’s not always the case with rivals.
Active noise cancellation 
We like how every HR-V comes with active noise cancelation that uses the audio system’s speakers to neutralize unwelcome sound waves. It makes the cabin feel more premium.
Automatic Climate Control 
We appreciate a climate control system you can simply set and forget, letting the system automatically adjust the controls to maintain the preset temperature. A single-zone system is on the lower trims, it is a dual-zone system on the EX-L.

Roomy Cabin

The HR-V has an inviting, comfy cabin with the ideal blend of style and function. It reigns among the top-tier passenger areas in the segment. Rear legroom is also better than most at 37.7 inches. Cargo volume of 24.4 cubic feet behind the back seats is about average.

Honda elevated the HR-V above many competitors when it launched the second generation in 2023, securing it to the same foundation as the Civic. This transformation brought with it a more spacious cabin and a notably higher level of refinement. We like the HR-V for its user-friendliness, Honda dependability, comfy cabin, and safety scores.

Pricing will start at $27,595. This is for the base LX trim. The range-topping EX-L will be $31,445.

You can add all-wheel drive (AWD) to any of the three HR-V trims for $1,500. Historically, buyers seem most fond of the LX and Sport trims, with all-wheel-drive models selling in greater quantities than front-wheel-drive versions.

Engine & Transmission

One engine covers all three HR-V trims. It’s a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit without any turbocharging. We are unsure of any performance increases for 2026; however, we expect the output to remain modest. This engine connects to an automatic transmission of the continuously variable (CVT) variety. Front-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is optional across the lineup.
3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty
The HR-V has a basic new-vehicle warranty of three years or 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. The powertrain is covered for five years or 60,000 miles. This protection is typical for mainstream companies like Honda, although Hyundai, Kia, and Mitsubishi offer better terms.
Safety Ratings
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>) awarded the 2025 HR-V the highest accolade of Top Safety Pick+. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>) also gave it a maximum 5-Star overall score.

The 2026 model year will be the HR-V’s mid-cycle freshening. Although we believe the powertrain will still involve the current  4-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT), we could see a horsepower boost. There will be some significant upgrades inside and out. Exterior enhancements may include a bolder grill flanked by more streamlined headlights. A similar futuristic approach may apply to the tail. We expect a somewhat sweeping, tech-intensive redesign of the cabin to include a larger touchscreen.
