The M3 has always been so much more than just a fast 3 Series. In our opinion, it’s one of the finest creations a car company has ever built. Anyone who loves driving needs to own one at least once in their lives.
The regular M3 is propelled by 473 hp going to the rear wheels and its transmission is a 6-speed manual. That sentence in itself signals nirvana for a section of the driving-enthusiast community. According to BMW, the sprint from standstill to 60 mph takes just 4.1 seconds. Then again, BMW tends to understate and overdeliver rather than the other way around. Let’s just say it’s wonderfully quick. The Mercedes-AMG C 43 (402 hp) has the advantage of a tenth or two, however. Not that it really matters. After all, it’s the way the M3 balances power with precise handling that seals the deal.
The M3 Competition ups the muscle to 503 hp, while the all-wheel-drive M3 Competition xDrive is boosted to 523 horses and hits 60 mph in a fleeting 3.4 seconds. These two come with an 8-speed automatic transmission exclusively. It is tuned by the M division, though, and has paddle shifters. The xDrive system includes a setting for rear-wheel drive (RWD) and no traction control, for some track-day power-sliding. If we had to choose, though, we might still go for a rear-drive M3 because it has less weight at the front end.
An M-tuned adaptive suspension is standard <a href="https://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/results?vehicleIds=477290|477241|477338/">across the board</a>, while the optional carbon ceramic brakes can withstand all sorts of fast-lap punishment and they’re lighter than the usual metal items.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The M3 achieves 19 mpg in combined city/highway driving, or 18 mpg combined if it’s an M3 Competition xDrive model. We don’t think that’s a negative, given the power numbers involved. For reference, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 (with all-wheel drive) returns 23 mpg combined.

The M3 sits low on its suspension, wearing aerodynamic additions for efficient cooling and downforce. It also has a carbon fiber roof to lower the center of gravity and save weight (the enemy of performance) as well as an aluminum hood. Previous M3 generations were coupes, until BMW created the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/4-series/">4 Series</a>. Infotainment system 
We’ve found the infotainment system in the M3 easy to use. The standard navigation system includes BMW Maps, and the voice command feature can obey spoken requests to open (or close) the sunroof, for example. BMW has refined the operating system to reduce the number of actions required to access and change a function. Augmented Reality is also available for the navigation feature, with superimposed direction arrows that help at things like confusing intersections.
Manual transmission 
Science has progressed to the point of particle accelerators and gene splicing, and here we are still yammering on about stick shifts. Because it’s yet another way of engaging with the M3, putting more attention into the driving experience. And one thing we’re sure will never change is that the more you put into something, the more you get out of it.
Harman Kardon audio 
There will be times when the M3 can’t make its own music, which is when this standard 16-speaker/464-watt surround-sound system becomes especially welcome.
All-wheel drive 
A popular option with M3 buyers, all-wheel drive helps apply the power to the road, as well as providing confidence in tricky conditions. Naturally, this system has been tuned by the M engineers.
Carbon Package 
This bundle includes carbon ceramic brakes, an M Track driving mode with a drift analyzer and lap timer, carbon fiber sport front seats, and a day’s high-performance driving tuition.
Parking Assistance package 
As well as steering the M3 into and out of parking spaces, this optional bundle also includes automatic reverse emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera system.

High-Quality Interior

We like the flat-bottomed steering wheel in the 2026 M3, making it easy to slide our knees under. And the red marker at the 12 o’clock position is cool. Having the wheel wrapped in suede-like Alcantara material is also a tempting option. The M3 comes with sport front seats (with the option of lighter, sportier versions) covered in standard leather upholstery, while there’s still a lot of the regular 3 Series in the cabin.
The quality of materials and how they’ve been put together is at the usual top-notch BMW level. The impressive Curved Display is a standard feature in the 2026 M3. It’s a frameless glass-covered unit housing a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an expansive 14.9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, each with high-resolution graphics.
Although the overall 3 Series falls into the category of compact luxury sedan, each generation has been bigger than the one before. So this M3 variant is relatively spacious. Rear legroom is 35.2 inches — not ideal for average-sized adults or bigger, but pretty much as good as anything else in this class. Behind the 40/20/40 split/folding rear seats, trunk space measures a generous 16.9 cubic feet.

We can see why the M3 Competition xDrive is a popular choice among M3 buyers — that ultimate grip and traction as well as the extra power is a heady combination. Even so, this is a car for enthusiast drivers and the base model’s manual transmission brings another level of engagement. We’ve also found 473 hp to be more than enough.
Rivals are few. The two <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/mercedes-amg-c-class/">AMG C-Class</a> cars from Mercedes-Benz either come in below the M3 muscle-wise and price-wise (the C 43) or appreciably above (the C 63 S E Performance). The 472-hp <a href="https://www.kbb.com/cadillac/ct4-v/">Cadillac CT4-V</a> Blackwing comes in below the base M3. It’s good, but doesn’t have the prestige or the heritage of a BMW M3.

At its entry level, the M3 has a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine developing a gorgeous 473 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque going to the rear wheels. Or, in the case of the M3 Competition, 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Those 503 horses are boosted to 523 in the 2026 M3 Competition xDrive with all-wheel drive. The regular M3 has a 6-speed manual transmission. Competition variants come with an M-tuned 8-speed automatic.

The 3 Series (on which the M3 is based) hasn’t been tested fully by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>) although it did take top scores in various impact scenarios. The car also earned a maximum of 5 stars overall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings">NHTSA</a>). Standard driver aids include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, as well as blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The high-performance 2026 BMW M2 coupe intrigues and excites in ways that only a BMW M car can.

<a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/driving-the-2025-bmw-m2/">We think the 2026 M2 is an awesome machine</a>, with a wonderful 473 hp erupting under that little hood to enable a standstill-to-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds. To lose a couple more tenths, choose the automatic transmission. Even so, we reckon a lot of M2 buyers are willing to forgo that eye-blink duration in favor of the stick-shift’s greater involvement. We should also mention that BMW tends to be conservative with its official output and acceleration figures. However things might pan out in the real world, the M2 is indisputably quick and powerful.
The Audi RS 3 has 401 hp and hits 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, but we love the precision and balance of this rear-drive M2. These two cars are different enough to have their own appeal.
The thing about any 2 Series is that it’s poised and nimble, as if it was made especially for canyon roads, with quick steering and confidence-inspiring brakes. That’s especially true of the M2, made all the more capable by an adaptive M suspension as standard.
The car feels agile, grippy and incredibly capable. Putting the power down early at a corner’s exit is exhilarating, because of the responsive engine in tandem with the M Sport rear differential with continuously variable electronic locking. The front tires stick to the intended line and the tail follows them so sweetly.
This year marks the debut of the limited-edition 2026 <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/2026-bmw-m2-cs-lighter-more-powerful-pricey/">M2 CS</a>, developing 523 hp and lighter by 97 pounds. It comes solely with an automatic transmission — not that we consider this a bad thing, especially since the M2 CS is the most powerful rear-wheel-drive M car. Compared with the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/results?vehicleIds=477297|477364/">regular M2</a>, the CS also has its own suspension setup and various aerodynamic differences. BMW claims a rapid zero-to-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds.

<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The regular 2026 M2 manages 19 mpg in combined city/highway driving, regardless of transmission. For some vague context, the Audi RS 3 achieves 23 mpg.

Special Exterior

The M2 has its own special spin on the classic coupe look (of a relatively long nose and short tail), which we find captivating. That kind of squared-off treatment to the grille and front air intakes is like nothing else. The M2 is also eligible for a roof made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), shaving off weight and lowering the car’s center of gravity. We like the standard quad tailpipes finished in black, with the same treatment (plus a silver border) for the M2 badges on the grille and trunk lid. This year adds new wheel designs with staggered widths (wider rubber at the back).
The M2 CS adds a CFRP rear diffuser, as well as the CFRP roof as standard, plus a CFRP trunk lid with an integrated ducktail spoiler. No-cost metallic paint finishes for the M2 CS are Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Grey, or Portimao Blue. Individual Velvet Blue Metallic is a $3,000 option.

Infotainment system 
We’ve found the infotainment system in the M2 easy to use, allowing voice control of several functions such as cabin temperature and ventilation, and even the heated steering wheel (when fitted). This has enabled BMW to reduce the number of physical controls. Augmented reality for the navigation system is optional.
BMW Curved Display 
This standard feature includes a 12.3-inch configurable driver information display and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen — all in one curved unit. We think it brings a great high-tech feel to the cabin. A head-up display is on the options list.
Harman Kardon surround-sound system 
Although the M2’s engine and exhaust system make their own sweet music together, we like this standard audio setup a lot.
Engine 
We hold most BMW engines in high esteem, while keeping a special place in our collective heart for the company’s smooth 6-cylinder creations. It isn’t just the power they make or their relatively good fuel efficiency, it’s also how they respond to inputs from the accelerator pedal — lively and eager, exactly how we would describe the M2’s engine.
Manual transmission 
Yes, we know, only rabid enthusiasts go for manual transmissions. But the M2 is definitely an enthusiast’s car and a stick shift provides another level of engagement. Plus, it has a rev-matching feature on the downshifts, blipping the throttle automatically, which we think is cool.
M Driver’s package 
This is an option with the M2 and well worth considering, in our opinion. It’s a day’s tuition in high-performance driving on a track.

Upscale Interior

Like the rest of the 2 Series, the 2026 M2 has an upscale cabin with quality materials and what we think is a well-considered layout. Space up front is fine. The seats are comfortable, bringing plenty of support for the sides and under the thighs. The lightweight M Carbon front seats are available as an individual option as well as part of a Carbon Package. The steering wheel comes with a flat bottom (easier to slide the knees under), and offers the option of Alcantara (simulated suede) covering.
There are four seats in the M2. Unsurprisingly, rear legroom of 35 inches is tight for adults of average size and above, while the coupe roof line has an impact on rear headroom. Trunk space of 13.8 cubic feet is decent, a fraction larger than a Toyota Corolla compact sedan’s.

Based on the regular BMW 2 Series Coupe, the M2 comes with a set of talents designed to inspire and engage the enthusiast driver. It has a fantastic combination of power, agility, technology, and relative lightness. On top of that, it’s the most affordable BMW M car. Giving this luxury subcompact coupe the high-performance M treatment allows <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/">BMW</a> to indulge in the more purist traits such as rear-wheel drive and the availability of a manual transmission. It’s probably not most people’s idea of a suitable commuter car, but for track-day blasts and weekend jaunts, the M2 can be truly exciting.

Even though the idea of a small, nimble and powerful front-engined/rear-drive coupe sounds like a surefire recipe for driving thrills, there isn’t anything else that matches up to the M2 directly. The 401-hp <a href="https://www.kbb.com/audi/rs-3/">Audi RS 3</a> has four doors and all-wheel drive, and begins a little below the M2. AMG versions of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA look like being hybrids. As a 2-seater/2-door coupe, the mid-engined <a href="https://www.kbb.com/chevrolet/corvette/">Chevrolet Corvette</a> starts out a little higher than the M2. Or the bargain of this crowd could be the Austrian-made <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/gr-supra/">Toyota GR Supra</a>, starting below $60K. If an M2 is just too small, the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/m4/">BMW M4</a> begins a smidge over $80K.

This energy goes solely to the rear wheels &#8212; there’s no option for all-wheel drive. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, while an 8-speed automatic transmission is offered as a no-cost option, bringing peak torque up to 443 lb-ft.
The 2026 M2 CS has essentially the same engine, automatic transmission and rear-drive configuration, with output boosted to an epic 523 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.

Beneath the 2025 Tesla Cybertruck’s distinctive sheet metal lies a capable electric pickup with excellent towing and payload capacity.

The Cybertruck is incredibly quick, with acceleration as good as zero-to-60 mph in 2.6 seconds. That’s something you would expect to hear about in a supercar, not a truck that can tow 11,000 pounds. Even if you don’t opt for the fastest triple-motor Cyberbeast, all <a href="https://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/results?vehicleIds=476834|475797|475862">Cybertruck trims</a> are highly responsive off the line.
There are some driving functions that are different from other trucks, but the learning curve isn’t too steep. Steering by wire allows you to turn corners without having to go “hand over hand” or take your hands off the wheel at all. The turn signals are buttons on the left side of the steering wheel instead of on a stalk. And there are no gauges in front of you; everything is within the large center screen and easy to see at a glance. Also, the truck’s unique exterior styling creates some blind spots when driving.
It has a decent ride, not cushy like the Ram 1500, but comfortable enough day to day. Its available adaptive air suspension provides a range of settings from sporty to soft. It also allows 12 inches of suspension travel and 16 inches of ground clearance, so it can definitely go off-road. For greater maneuverability, the Cybertruck also offers rear-wheel steering.

Tough Exterior

Tesla employs a unibody construction for the Cybertruck, as opposed to the traditional body-on-frame arrangement. It’s going to take a lot to dent a Cybertruck and the stainless steel is rust resistant. The glass is likewise ultra strong and armored with polymer-layered composite.
According to Tesla, the 6.5-foot composite bed supplies 100 cubic feet of lockable storage. It can also take 4×8 plywood sheets. The roller-shutter tonneau cover is strong enough for someone to stand on. You can even fit an ATV in the open bed, and Tesla offers an optional ramp. The bed houses 120-volt and 240-volt outlets, and an air compressor is available.

Minimalist Interior

The 5-passenger Cybertruck comes only in one crew cab body style with four full-size doors. That triangular profile is something to look out for when getting into the back seats — watch your head — but there is room in the back for tall passengers.
The interior has a very clean design, which isn’t the current trend for trucks, but should absolutely appeal to minimalists. With the exception of the rectangular steering wheel, the biggest feature on the dashboard is the 17-inch touchscreen. That screen controls climate, audio, and navigation, as well as the truck-centric features like suspension, towing, hauling, opening/closing the tonneau, and off-roading.
There is an additional 9.4-inch touchscreen for rear passengers, for watching videos or to adjust temperature and fan speed. Under the rear seats is extra storage space, and the seat bottoms lift up and out of the way to open up cargo space when needed. Another storage area, a large frunk, is beneath the Cybertruck&#8217;s hood.

While its looks are polarizing, there is much more to the Cybertruck than what meets the eye. Beneath the angular cold-rolled steel body, there is an electric truck that’s very fast, very capable, and in some cases, very expensive. There is no doubt this truck turns heads, but setting that aside, the Cybertruck has the highest payload capacity, fastest zero-to-60 mph time, and near-best towing capacity in this small but growing segment. It competes with the Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV, plus the smaller Rivian R1T.
We’ve logged hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of <a href="https://www.kbb.com/electric-car/best-electric-trucks/">electric pickups</a>, including the Tesla Cybertruck.

For comparison, the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/ford/f150-lightning/">Ford F-150 Lightning</a> starts at $55K for the XLT (or $52K for the commercial Pro trim). The 2025 <a href="https://www.kbb.com/chevrolet/silverado-ev/">Chevrolet Silverado EV</a> starts at around $75K, with the closely related <a href="https://www.kbb.com/gmc/sierra-ev/">GMC Sierra EV</a> at about $92K because it launched in the top Denali trim. The <a href="https://www.kbb.com/gmc/hummer-ev-suv/">GMC Hummer EV</a> Pickup is more like $99K. The <a href="https://www.kbb.com/rivian/r1t/">Rivian R1T</a> starts in the $72K region.

Battery and Efficiency

The All-Wheel Drive version of the new Cybertruck has an EPA-rated range of 325 miles. Tesla estimates that the Long Range model will have a 354-mile range. The 3-motor Cyberbeast can run for 301 miles.
Looking at the maximum ranges of rival electric trucks, the Ford F-150 Lightning can run for 320 miles with its Extended package. The Chevy Silverado EV is capable of 408 miles, the Rivian R1T can manage 420 miles, and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup’s maximum range is 318 miles.
Using the network of Tesla Superchargers is the fastest way of recharging the Cybertruck, with about 136 miles of range added in 15 minutes at 250 kW. That’s quick. Once back at the ranch, it’s best to use a 240-volt charger (Tesla sells these things), but count on a full replenishment taking about 10 hours.
<h3>Payload and Towing</h3>
The Cybertruck has a 6’4” bed, and this truck’s maximum payload is 2,500 pounds. In tandem with its 11,000-pound towing ability, this pickup is extremely capable. Both the Cyberbeast and All-Wheel Drive trims can tow 11,000 pounds. The Ford F-150 Lightning manages 2,000 pounds and can tow up to 10,000 pounds. We’re looking at 1,485/12,000 pounds for the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. The Rivian R1T is rated at 1,760/11,000 pounds. And the Chevy Silverado EV can handle 1,800 pounds of payload and can tow 12,500 pounds.
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
Tesla’s new-vehicle limited warranty lasts four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. These terms are typical among luxury manufacturers. The battery is covered for eight years or 150,000 miles, which is a little better than most.
<h3>Safety</h3>
The Tesla Cybertruck earned a 5-Star rating from the National Highway Traffic Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>).

The 2025 VinFast VF 8 is a stylish and high-tech EV, but its significant shortcomings make it hard to recommend against its tough competition.

The VinFast VF 8 is powered by a 349-horsepower electric powertrain matched with all-wheel drive (AWD) in the base Eco trim. The Plus trim has an output of 402 hp.
We’ve only driven a pre-production model of the VF 8, and only very briefly, in Vietnam. It was quick and quiet, similar to other EVs like the Tesla Model Y. But we didn’t get enough time behind the wheel to give a complete evaluation.
However, reviews from other outlets that have thoroughly tested production VF 8 models are <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/first-vinfast-vf8-reviews-are-abysmal/">unanimously negative</a>. Some of our colleagues in the automotive press have said the VF 8 has &#8220;the worst body control of any modern car&#8221; they’ve tested and called this SUV &#8220;terrible, especially when you put the VF 8 in Sport mode, and the steering becomes so overboosted that it’s borderline uncontrollable.&#8221;
It’s rare to see such universally negative reviews of any modern car, making the VF 8 hard for us to recommend over its increasingly excellent competition.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
The <a href="https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/make.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EPA</a>-estimated range of the 2025 VinFast VF 8 is up to 256 miles for the Eco trim and 235 miles for the Plus model. A 300-mile max range has become something of a psychological benchmark for how much range is enough in an EV, and plenty of electric SUVs in this price range exceed that number, making the VF 8&#8217;s range just OK by comparison.
The VF 8 is equipped with DC fast charging capability, which VinFast claims allows it to charge from 10% to 70%  in 31 minutes. Assuming you&#8217;re not starting from zero, it should reliably get a full charge overnight with Level 2 charging at home.

Stylish Exterior

With its prominent V on the nose and V-shaped front sculpting, the VF 8 is immediately identifiable as a VinFast when viewed head-on. The body was designed by Pininfarina, which has a history of designing gorgeous bodies for Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and others. Despite being a Vietnamese car, the VF 8&#8217;s design suggests Italian heritage.

Standard dual-motor powertrain 
We like that every variant of the VinFast VF 8 has a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain. It has an impressive zero-to-60-mph time of 5.5 seconds and makes up to 402 hp.
Front trunk 
Although the VinFast VF 8 has a front motor, it still has about three cubic feet of room for a front trunk, or frunk, under its hood.
Pininfarina design 
The legendary Italian design firm Pininfarina designed the body of the VF 8, which gives this practical electric SUV an exotic edge.
Vegan leather seats 
The VF 8&#8217;s cabin is made of premium materials, such as vegan leather seating, and customizable ambient lighting adds to the upscale feel.
15.6-inch screen 
The high-tech infotainment system in this SUV has a 15.6-inch screen, an AI-powered voice assistant, over-the-air updates, and the VinFast Companion app that links to your phone.
Highway Assist 
The Highway Assist feature uses semi-autonomous driving technology with features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist to make highway driving safer and more relaxed.

Simple Interior

The VF 8&#8217;s clean interior design is so minimalistic that it doesn’t have an instrument cluster in front of the driver. This might take some getting used to, but the Tesla Model Y and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/tesla/model-3/">Model 3</a> have a similar layout. The center stack carries a sizeable 15.6-inch touchscreen and gear shift buttons for an uncluttered look. Overall, the VF 8’s passenger cabin features materials and design commensurate with the vehicle’s price tag.
Some reviewers who have tested the production VF 8 have complained that some essential interior functions simply didn’t work. Turn signals, driver assist features, climate control, and the navigation system are reported to be so buggy that you can’t use them, and sometimes don&#8217;t work at all.
Cargo space is limited in the VF 8. It has 13.2 cubic feet of room behind the back seats and a 2.7-cubic-foot &#8220;frunk.&#8221; That’s significantly less cargo volume than the similarly sized Lexus RZ and Tesla Model Y, which more than double it.

The VinFast VF 8 is an electric vehicle (EV) that has a few promising virtues, like a good warranty, a stylish Italian-designed body, and an upscale interior with modern tech. However, there are some red flags that discerning electric SUV shoppers need to know about. In the face of increasingly tough competition in the premium EV space, especially in this price range, the VinFast VF 8 suffers shortcomings in its driving experience, range, efficiency, interior space, and overall quality that make it hard to recommend.

The VinFast VF 8&#8217;s cost is one reason it&#8217;s hard to recommend compared to increasingly excellent competition in this price range. A few other electric luxury SUV options for around the same price or less include the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/tesla/model-y/">Tesla Model Y</a>, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/cadillac/optiq/">Cadillac Optiq</a>, and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/lexus/rz/">Lexus RZ</a>.

Regardless of trim, every 2025 VinFast VF 8 uses an 87.7-kWh battery pack feeding a dual-motor electric powertrain. The EPA estimates a fuel economy rating of up to 73 city/80 highway/76 combined MPGe. Meanwhile, rivals like the Tesla Model Y and Lexus RZ get well over 100 MPGe combined, even with their respective dual-motor configurations. Since it uses electrons less efficiently, the energy costs for the VF 8 are a little high for an EV in this class, albeit still cheaper than a traditional gas-powered SUV.
<h3>10-Year/125,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
The VinFast VF 8 has an impressive 10-year/125,000-mile warranty. According to VinFast, mobile techs can perform most services at home.
<h3>Safety</h3>
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>) gave the VinFast VF 8 a 4-Star overall safety rating, but only two out of a possible five stars in the frontal crash test. The VinFast VF 8 is well-equipped with standard safety features, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

The product itself is unchanged for 2025, but it&#8217;s worth noting that VinFast is no longer a California-only brand. It now has a dealer network spanning more than a dozen states.

Where the non-S model is focused on comfort while retaining rapidity, the SQ8 takes sportiness up several notches, with 500 horsepower and more precise handling. That big power figure enables 4-second sprints from zero to 60 mph, along with a top speed of 155 mph. That, in turn, means wide smiles for everyone in the cabin.
Of course, the SQ8 isn’t just about straight-line speed. The SQ8’s performance upgrades include a sport-tuned adaptive air suspension, along with all-wheel steering for better low-speed maneuverability and greater high-speed stability.
Fuel Economy
The SQ8 nets 17 mpg combined (15 city, 21 highway), which is a bit lower than most of its competitive set, which averages 19.5 mpg combined. That said, all of these high-performance SUVs are a bit thirstier than their regular counterparts — that&#8217;s the tradeoff for the extra performance.

Restrained Exterior

It’s hard to call a 6-figure, 500-hp luxury SUV understated, but the Audi SQ8’s exterior does its best to demonstrate restraint. Rather than telegraphing its ability with brightly colored trim and giant aerodynamic surfaces, the SQ8 adopts a subtler look that still clues in the cognoscenti.
For 2025, two new appearance packages offer a chance to undo some of that subtlety, however, adding either carbon fiber visual accents to the exterior (Carbon package) or red-themed contrast stitching, red seat belts, and other interior details (Audi Sport package).

Virtual Cockpit Plus 
Audi was one of the first to move away from traditional gauges, and its Virtual Cockpit Plus is still one of the best. It’s sharp, easy to use, and allows the driver to display exactly what&#8217;s required — whether that’s navigation, media, or classic dials.
Matrix-design LED headlights 
These intelligent headlights adjust automatically to avoid blinding other drivers while still providing great illumination. When parked, they can even project animated patterns onto nearby walls — a clever feature with a bit of flair.
Remote Park Assist Plus 
This standard feature can handle parallel and perpendicular parking. It’s especially helpful when space is tight and/or outward vision is limited.
Adaptive air suspension 
Another standard SQ8 feature, this high-performance adaptive air suspension absorbs bumps, improves handling in corners, and even lowers the vehicle at higher speeds to optimize aerodynamic efficiency.
Bang &amp; Olufsen audio 
The SQ8’s quiet cabin is the perfect setting for this optional 23-speaker/1,920-watt Bang &amp; Olufsen audio system. It delivers rich, detailed sound that makes every drive more enjoyable.
360-degree camera system 
Parking and tight spaces are much easier to navigate with this 360-degree camera setup. It provides a full view of the SQ8’s surroundings, helping the driver avoid obstacles and blind spots. This feature comes standard in Premium Plus and Prestige trims.

Clean, Comfortable Interior

Audi’s reputation for clean design, excellent materials, and user-focused ergonomics shines through in the SQ8’s cabin. Clean and modern without gimmicks, the SQ8’s interior is at once business-like and welcoming.
Front and rear passengers have generous legroom (more than 40 inches in all positions), which is considerably more than some rivals, including the BMW X6 M60i.
Being an SUV, the SQ8 does have decent cargo space, but its coupe-ish styling brings a few compromises for the sake of looks. Still, the SQ8 offers nearly 34 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, or more than 60 cubic feet behind the first. That’s more than the X6 M60i, and on the larger end of this midsize luxury coupe-SUV sector.

Sportier, even more stylish, and even more luxurious than the model on which it’s based, the Audi SQ8 is everything the Q8 (<a href="https://www.kbb.com/audi/q8/">reviewed separately</a>) is, but turned up a couple of notches. Two comfortable rows of seating, a rip-snorting turbocharged V8, plus all the safety, tech, and all-wheel-drive (AWD) surefootedness we expect of an <a href="https://www.kbb.com/audi/">Audi</a> are onboard the SQ8.
Anyone in the market for a sporty, luxurious midsize coupe-like SUV must consider and test-drive the SQ8.

That base model also received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>) Top Safety Pick rating, the institute&#8217;s second-highest accolade.

The Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric vehicle is an interesting piece of engineering, but it&#8217;s less practical than a typical EV for most people.

Power, Ride, and Handling 

The 2025 Toyota Mirai is powered by a 181-horsepower electric motor matched with a single-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive. Although it’s a fairly large sedan to be making less than 200 horsepower, we’re content with the moderately quick acceleration courtesy of the instantaneous burst of torque from the electric motor. We appreciate the enthusiastic launches, as well as the smooth power spool when not burying the throttle in the floorboard. However, as more powerful electric vehicles (EVs) with dual-motor options become more common in this price range, the Mirai’s lackluster performance makes its price tag hard to justify.
The Toyota Mirai drives like an electric car because that’s technically what it is, despite its fuel source being hydrogen rather than a big battery pack. Ultimately, the Toyota Mirai is an alternative fuel car that prioritizes plush over performance, excelling in the comfort category. We love the deliberate power delivery and the comfortable, library-quiet ride.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
Why go with an FCEV rather than a BEV? Range and charging are the big benefits of the hydrogen option. The Mirai has an outstanding maximum range rating of up to 402 miles; that 400-mile milestone is rare among BEVs outside of trucks with massive batteries. Also, while BEVs take hours to recharge, the Mirai takes about five minutes, similar to filling a gas tank. The tricky part is actually finding a place to refuel, so make sure you live somewhere with a decent hydrogen refueling infrastructure if you’re considering the Mirai.
