Across the Range Rover Sport’s generations, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/driving-the-2025-range-rover-sport/">our time behind the wheel</a> has seen every sort of off-road surface from deep muck to water crossings, and every sort of on-road or track challenge you might find south of 150 mph or south of the 10 on the 405. Whatever the environment, the Range Rover Sport impresses, even amongst its own-brand alternatives.
The value-packed (and most popular) P400 Dynamic SE trim can sprint from a stop to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds thanks to its 395-horsepower turbocharged 6-cylinder. The base P360 SE does the same sprint in 5.7 seconds, while the plug-in hybrid P460e nearly matches the P400 at 5.3 seconds. The P530 takes a significant jump up to 523 hp, although the P550e is the top of the non-SV chart at 542 hp. Despite the 550e’s greater output, the P530 accelerates quicker, hitting 60 mph from a stop in 4.3 seconds to the P550e’s 4.7 seconds. Likewise, the P530 has the highest top speed below the SV at 155 mph.
For the purely performance-minded, the SV Edition Two is the obvious choice. Its 626 hp is more than any sane person can reasonably use for any measurable period on the open road, and the chassis is built to handle it. Even the brakes are impressively large — the largest ever fitted to a Range Rover, in fact.
Fuel Economy
The expanded 2025 Range Rover Sport lineup offers a wide range of fuel economies and powertrains. Starting with the least efficient, the Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two, you’ll get 18 mpg combined. Close behind that 626-hp beast is also the V8-powered Range Rover Sport P530, which is good for 19 mpg combined. Opt for the P400 mild hybrid and you’ll get 22 mpg — the same as you’ll get with the P360. Hands-down, the efficient Range Rover Sport models are the P460 PHEV and P550 PHEV plug-in hybrids, which both get a combined MPGe rating of 53, along with 21 miles of all-electric range.

The base Meridian sound system is good, and the upgrade Meridian 3D Surround Sound system (standard on Autobiography models) is even better. Still, the Meridian Signature Sound system is the best, available on all but the base model. This 29-speaker, 1,430-watt custom-engineered system is worth a listen — and the roughly $5,000 option price.
Towing package 
For just $1,200, any version of the Range Rover Sport can be outfitted with a towing package. Capabilities vary by powertrain, but properly configured, the Range Rover Sport can tow up to 7,716 lbs — enough for a small camper or a medium-sized boat.

A League of Its Own

Interior

At its best, when compared to anything short of a Bentley, a Maybach, or a Rolls-Royce, the Range Rover Sport is simply in another league. Its material quality and interior design are excellent even in the base model. Step up the range into Autobiography territory, and even the hyper-luxe alternatives take notice. This interior is the benchmark by which other SUV cabins are judged, even if cargo space and seating room are about average for the two-row midsize luxury SUV segment.

It’s easiest to think of the Range Rover Sport lineup in terms of its powertrains. There are two 6-cylinder models, two V8 models, and two plug-in hybrids. The base P360 SE and the P400 Dynamic SE share the mild-hybrid 3.0-liter 6-cylinder, rated at 355 and 395 hp, respectively. The two plug-in hybrids share a version of that same engine paired to an electric motor drive system that boosts power to 454 hp (P460e) or 542 hp (P550e). The P530 is the entry point to the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 range, with 523 hp. At the top sits the SV Edition Two, with a 626-hp version of the same twin-turbo V8.
All versions of the Range Rover Sport use an 8-speed automatic transmission and come with standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty
The Range Rover Sport’s basic warranty is typical for the luxury segment, lasting for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Powertrain coverage is the same.
Safety Ratings
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has safety tested the Range Rover Sport. Standard safety equipment includes emergency brake assist, lane-keeping, 3D surround camera, front and rear parking assist, and more.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG G-Class is a performance luxury SUV that proves anything is possible with enough money and power.

The G 63 AMG corrals its considerable 577 hp to sprint from standing to 60 mph in a fleeting 4.2 seconds, which is simultaneously crazy and wonderful for a large and heavy SUV.
The AMG G 63 is the most engaging G-Class, and its standard adaptive suspension offers a broader range of comfort and sportiness than the non-AMG (which offers the adaptive suspension as an option — we recommend it). If absolute smoothness and serenity are high on the list of priorities, though, we’d say check out the plusher and more tranquil Range Rover.
Fuel Economy
Unbelievably, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG G 63 gets 1 mpg better gas mileage than the base non-AMG variant at 15 mpg combined. That’s not a particularly impressive figure, but it’s the reality of preposterously quick acceleration of a large, rectilinear shape through the atmosphere.
That’s a reality the competition must also face; the BMW X5 M returns the same 15 mpg as the G 63, and most of the rest of the segment is below 20 mpg combined, with less powerful models managing somewhat greater efficiency.

The iconic blocky outline of the G-Class hasn’t changed much since it was first introduced in Europe in 1979, and that’s just fine by us. The satisfying mechanical “ka-chunk” of the doors closing likewise remains the same.
The G 63 has 20-inch alloy wheels, side exhaust pipes, and a model-specific grille. The spare wheel is mounted on the rear door (instead of stowed underneath), maximizing ground clearance and departure angles when off-roading. And the door itself is hinged at the side — no heavy tailgate to lift.

Offroad Cockpit 
Accessed via the digital instrument screen, this system shows off-road-specific data like tire pressures, steering angle, elevation, and other details. It’s a great complement to the virtual transparent hood feature.
AMG Ride Control suspension 
Some buyers may want to maximize the off-road potential of their new G-Class luxury SUV. We’ve found that one way is to select the AMG Performance Package offered with the G 63 for about $4,400. It includes an off-road-optimized adaptive suspension.
Burmester audio 
This 18-speaker, 760-watt 3D surround sound audio system is standard equipment. To our ears, it’s a truly excellent system. Its drilled metal speaker grilles look pretty nice, too.
Guard 360 security system 
Another standard feature, this system keeps an eye on your vehicle while it’s parked, potentially detecting if it’s been damaged. It leverages the vehicle’s built-in Surround View cameras to monitor the whole exterior.
Extensive standard safety tech 
It might not be top-of-mind with a passion purchase like the AMG G 63, but having the latest in active safety technology onboard is reassuring when you’re all loaded up with family and friends. The G 63 comes with attention assist, active lane-keeping, dynamic cruise control, traffic sign assist, and much more.
Wireless charging &amp; phone integration 
Nothing says luxury like complete freedom from cables. Here, you can charge your phone, pair via NFC, and use both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly, gloriously free of cord clutter.

Refined and luxurious without becoming impractical, the 2025 G 63’s cabin is inviting, fitted with leather upholstery, wood trim, heated front seats, and other luxuries. Running boards and a grab handle make it easier to climb up into the G 63.
Once inside, you’ll find fair space, with 39.5 inches of legroom in the second row and 37.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the seats. Fold the second row, and that expands to 68.6 cubic feet — but it’s worth pointing out that the space is narrower than in some competitors. The Range Rover has more space in general, with up to 83.5 cubic feet of total cargo capacity.

A luxury SUV icon that’s as much a part of the culture as it is a built-for-purpose off-roader, the G-Class imposes its presence, and no variant of it more so than the AMG version, the Mercedes-AMG G 63. Brash, powerful, and ferociously quick, yet refined, comfortable, and surprisingly practical, the G 63 is perhaps AMG’s greatest finesse, transforming an erstwhile military transport into one of the most impressive luxury performance SUVs on the planet.

The entry-level i7 eDrive50 has a single electric motor driving the rear wheels to the tune of 449 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The i7 xDrive60 enjoys 536 hp and 549 lb-ft of torque. The M70 xDrive comes with an awesome 650 hp and 748 lb-ft of torque &#8212; or a temporary 811 lb-ft when using M Sport Boost or Launch Control. These latter two variants have all-wheel drive as standard.
Given the size and weight of the BMW i7, it has some impressive acceleration (as long as you don’t mind range being curtailed), zipping from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, 4.5 seconds, or an “are you kidding us?” 3.5 seconds in the M70.
Such is the joy of electric motors. They play into BMW’s metaphorical hands by being able to generate a lot of power, yet do so almost silently, which is a perfect combination for a luxury vehicle. Acceleration is remarkably swift yet serene. Those driving talents are amplified in the 650-hp i7 M70 xDrive.
For competition, we’re looking at 4.2 seconds for the Mercedes-EQ EQS (with the super-expensive EQS 580 model), 3.0 seconds for the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance. And supposedly 1.99 seconds for the Tesla Model S Plaid (not counting the first foot of rollout).
We’ve always contended that the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/7-series/">BMW 7 Series</a> (reviewed separately) is one of the most enjoyable large luxury sedans from the vantage point of the driver’s seat. Even though this closely related i7 electric sedan is big for the class and weighs about three tons, we still notice that same appeal. BMW has made the i7 feel a lot more agile than its specifications might imply. While still remaining supremely comfortable, of course.
We’ve absolutely loved driving this M70 variant, regardless of how much power we might or might not have used during our time behind the wheel. Every mile is a reminder of how good BMW is at tuning suspensions and calibrating accelerator response.
Not every day is spent gliding along the highway or breaking free of city limits, however. Which is where one-pedal driving &#8212; another attribute of electric vehicles &#8212; comes into its own. By setting brake regeneration to its maximum (easily done), the i7’s progress is controlled just by pressing on the accelerator or easing off. It’s only necessary to hit the brake pedal when a more urgent halt is needed.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
Wheel size impacts range; larger wheels usually reduce the distance. The i7 eDrive50 is estimated to run for up to 314 miles on a fully charged battery—that’s with 19-inch wheels. The i7 xDrive60 has a best figure of 311 miles. We said “usually” just now because the M70 xDrive is capable of 285 miles on 21-inch wheels or 268 miles with 20-inchers.
Compare all this with 367 miles for the Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic sedan, 410 miles for the Tesla Model S, and an impressive 512 miles for the Lucid Air.
Charging times among these contenders are close. The i7 can regain around 90 miles of range in 10 minutes when connected to a fast charger, similar to the EQS. Lucid and Tesla both say 200 miles is possible in 15 minutes for their cars (or even 12 minutes with the Lucid Air Grand Touring).

Imposing Exterior

Compared with other large luxury sedans, the BMW i7 is big. It’s about a foot longer than the Mercedes-EQ EQS Sedan and the Tesla Model S. However, the Model S remains the widest.
The i7 M70 xDrive comes with various aerodynamic additions, a lot of black touches, the option of an illuminated grille, Frozen matte finishes, and eight two-tone color combinations. One such combo is the Liquid Copper lower section with a Black Sapphire Metallic roof, hood, and trunk lid.

Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof 
This spectacular standard feature has customizable colors and an illuminated graphic design that lets users create their mood within the i7.
Adaptive Recuperation 
Using information from the navigation system to optimize regenerative braking, this feature helps to optimize the BMW i7’s efficiency. It can capture and preserve electrical energy (adding to the range) without requiring any changes to your usual driving style.
BMW Curved Display 
This dash is one large unit containing the Live Cockpit digital driver information display and the touchscreen for a feature-rich iDrive infotainment system that includes navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a Bowers &amp; Wilkins audio system.
IconicSounds 
Created by film composer Hans Zimmer (Google him, he’s done a few Batman films, plus “Dune,” “Gladiator,” “Blade Runner 2049,” and loads more), the i7 offers a choice of sounds to suit moods, performance, etc. They can make you feel like you’re in your own futuristic movie.
M Sport Package 
Although there’s an M version of the i7, some buyers may be happy just with a sportier look rather than going the whole M hog. This options package includes Shadowline exterior trim and M Aerodynamic alloy wheels. The M Sport Professional package adds even more black trim, a rear spoiler, and upgraded M Sport brakes.
BMW Theater Screen 
No mere rear-seat entertainment system, this is a massive 31.3-inch screen with up to 8K resolution and Amazon Fire TV compatibility. It flips down to use and stows in the ceiling when not in use. We’ve enjoyed this feature a lot.

Impressive Interior

The BMW i7’s cabin is sure to meet or more likely exceed anyone’s expectations of a flagship luxury sedan. The designs and technology are all state-of-the-art. Interior space is generous. And we’ve found the seats to be extraordinarily comfortable. Extended Merino leather upholstery and oak trim come as standard.
With the BMW Individual Composition program, buyers can tailor the interior exactly to their liking. There’s a choice of six colors for the leather, and interior trim options range from carbon fiber to four types of wood.
For those who prefer to be chauffeured, an optional Luxury Rear Seating package upgrades the back seats with ventilation and massaging functions. And goodness, those headrests are pillowy.

For a heady combination of power, tech, comfort, and prestige, the BMW i7 is hard to beat. It doesn’t matter which seat you’re in, the i7 offers a lot of features and engagement &#8212; including that special <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/">BMW</a> driver appeal. We think the i7 is one of the finest cars of its class. The lineup consists of three variants that go from a relatively modest conveyance with the best range, to a muscular machine with dynamics to match.

The eDrive50 (with 19-inch wheels) provides the best range of 314 miles and is a popular choice. However, the more powerful xDrive60 (range: 311 miles) also sells relatively well.

Battery and Efficiency

Every 2026 i7 has a battery with a usable capacity of 105.6 kilowatt-hours (kWh). That’s quite a hefty amount for today’s lithium-ion technology. BMW’s electric motors don’t use magnets and so do not require rare-earth materials like cobalt. They’re known as current-excited motors and are manufactured in-house.
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
BMW’s new-vehicle warranty lasts four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. This coverage is typical for the luxury sector. The i7’s high-voltage battery and other EV components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. BMW also includes four years/unlimited miles of roadside assistance, and free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles.
<h3>Safety Ratings</h3>
The i7 has yet to be crash-tested by any agencies in the United States, but that shouldn’t deter buyers. Standard safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning.
