With a fantastic supply of horsepower and torque, a smooth-shifting transmission, and a race-tuned suspension, the 2025 BMW X5 M Competition is one of the most fun SUVs for just about any amount of money. BMW says the X5 M Competition can hit 60 mph from a stop in just 3.7 seconds and can carry on to a top speed of 155 mph. Opt for the M Driver’s Package, and maximum speed is raised to 177 mph. Brisk indeed.
That said, the X5 M’s focus on cornering competence does require a bit of trade-off with outright passenger comfort. That’s not to say the X5 M is too harsh, but it’s likely to be harsher than some buyers would prefer. Fortunately, that’s where the non-M variants of the X5 shine.
Fuel Economy
Gas mileage is one of the only things the 2025 BMW X5 M Competition can’t do well. Its combined rating of 15 mpg is weighed down by a 13 mpg city rating and 18 mpg on the highway. Neither of those figures is likely to impress, and the X5 M’s range suffers as a result, at 328 miles compared to the M60i’s 416-mile range or the sDrive40i/xDrive40i, which achieve 548 miles of range on a tank.
Compared to the competition, the X5 M’s fuel economy is about on par, but still toward the back of the bunch. The GLS 63 AMG is rated for 15 mpg combined as well, while the Range Rover Sport SV manages 18 mpg combined, and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo (a plug-in hybrid with 24 miles of all-electric range) runs to an impressive 22 mpg combined.

Prestigious and performance-focused, the 2025 X5 M’s exterior is at once instantly recognizable as a BMW and yet still fresh and modern. Individual elements for the X5 M’s appearance include large front air intakes on both sides and below the matte-black grille, plus black exterior mirror caps and badges, rear diffuser, and 4-inch dual-twin exhaust tailpipes.

Monster hybrid power 
It won&#8217;t get the best gas mileage, but with 617 hp and a twin-turbo V8’s song, the X5 M’s powertrain is wonderfully responsive.
Bold acceleration 
Sure, some vehicles can accelerate to 60 mph in less time, but few are as large and luxurious as the X5 M Competition. For a face-melting family vehicle that’s not an EV, this is great.
Active exhaust system 
As one member of our staff put it, “Save your local exorcist in the nav system; that active exhaust sounds demonic.” Not bad for a hybrid, eh?
Fantastic handling 
It’s not just good for an SUV. The X5 M Competition handles incredibly well. Thank the excellent engineering of BMW’s finest, and the intelligent application of an adaptive suspension, smart traction management, and a responsive cockpit.
BMW Curved Display 
This large, high-res, colorful display sits behind the steering wheel and spans the center of the dashboard. It gives all the usual information and controls, but with a subtle curvature that ensures the driver is the focal point.
Driving Assistant Professional 
Bundling BMW’s Traffic Jam Assistant and the radar-and-camera-based active assistance of the Driving Assistant package, this $1,700 option is a smart pick for enhanced safety and easier commutes.

The X5 M’s interior builds on the base model’s spacious, comfortable, and premium cabin with M-specific details like an M logo in the ambient light bar below the front passenger trim, an M leather steering wheel, full Merino leather upholstery, and carbon fiber gearshift paddles.
Behind the second row is 33.9 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold down those rear seats, and it more than doubles to 72.3 cubic feet. The GLS 63 AMG has a bit more space at 42.7 cubic feet behind the second row or 84.7 cubic feet with the second row folded. The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid offers just 22.7/56.6 cubic feet, placing the X5 right in the middle.

Last year, BMW launched a new V8 engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system for the X5 M Competition, which carries forward to the 2025 model. This 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 is paired with the electric assist for a total system output of 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. All X5 Ms use an 8-speed automatic transmission and come standard with xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD).
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
BMW’s new-vehicle and powertrain warranties are co-extensive, lasting four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. This is a typical warranty length and coverage for the luxury segment, although some brands do offer longer warranties. BMW also includes scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which is a bit better than typical for the segment. Hybrid batteries in the relevant models are covered by an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty.

Bold and brawny design

Not surprisingly, from our first glimpses of the 2026 Cherokee, it looks like a downsized version of the Grand Cherokee. We count this as a win. Jeep’s teaser images of the 2026 Cherokee show a big and bold grille, slightly boxy design, aggressive LED headlights, and an available two-tone color option with a black roof. We can’t wait to see it in person.

Rugged, tech-forward interior

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee will remain a 2-row/5-passenger SUV. We’ve yet to see inside it, but if current Jeep interior trends hold, it should be a nice place with a fine balance of utility and technology. We’re fans of Jeep’s Uconnect infotainment systems and screens. And we can only dream that the wonderful, high-end McIntosh audio system available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee could trickle down to the Cherokee.

The Cherokee holds a special place in the heart of Jeep loyalists thanks to its adventure-ready capability and a legacy that goes back decades. Its life has been on pause for the past few years, however, when the model went radio silent after the 2023 model year. Thankfully, it still has stories to tell and experiences to create with an all-new model just around the corner. Jeep says the 2026 Cherokee “honors its rich history with an innovative eye toward the future.” Much about the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is still to be announced, but we know it will offer a hybrid powertrain and will slot between the larger <a href="https://www.kbb.com/jeep/grand-cherokee/">Grand Cherokee</a> and smaller <a href="https://www.kbb.com/jeep/compass/">Compass</a> when it arrives in late 2025.

2026 Jeep Cherokee Pricing

While official pricing is still a ways off, we can make an educated guess of its starting price from its place in the Jeep lineup. We estimate the 2026 Jeep Cherokee will start in the low $30,000 range. That would slot it between the roughly $38,500 starting price of the Grand Cherokee and the sub-$29,000 figure of the Compass.
The compact SUV segment is the most popular and most competitive there is. That means the new Jeep Cherokee will be facing competitors spanning from the best-selling <a href="https://www.kbb.com/honda/cr-v/">Honda CR-V</a> and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/rav4/2026/">Toyota RAV4</a> — which will go hybrid-only in 2026 — to rivals that also have a more rugged and adventurous spirit such as the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/subaru/forester/">Subaru Forester</a>, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mazda/cx-50/">Mazda CX-50</a>, and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/gmc/terrain/2025/">GMC Terrain</a>. All start in the low $30K range. Rivals such as the CR-V, RAV4, CX-50, Forester, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/hyundai/tucson/">Hyundai Tucson</a>, and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/kia/sportage/">Kia Sportage</a> also offer hybrid powertrains, just like the 2026 Jeep Cherokee.

Engine and Transmission

Jeep has yet to reveal what exactly will power the Cherokee, except to say it will offer “a new, efficient and powerful hybrid propulsion option from Jeep.” We would expect the powertrain to have at least 200 horsepower to remain competitive with rivals. In the past, front- or all-wheel drive was offered in the Cherokee, but all-wheel drive became standard in its last model year and is standard in the smaller Compass. So it might make sense for this new model to have all-wheel drive standard as well, just like rivals the Subaru Forester and Mazda CX-50.
If the Jeep Cherokee follows in the footsteps of its cousin, the Dodge Hornet, which is available as a plug-in hybrid or gasoline-only, it will use a traditional geared transmission vs. a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The 2026 Acura RSX is a midsize luxury all-electric SUV with coupe-like looks and technology galore.

Given the 2026 RSX&#8217;s underpinnings will be derived from the Honda 0 platform cars, the RSX is likely to achieve around 300 miles of range on a charge. Handling and acceleration performance are likely to be a focus for development as well, given the RSX&#8217;s namesake and Acura&#8217;s positioning as a tech- and performance-forward premium brand. A front-wheel drive (FWD) base model and available all-wheel drive (AWD) are also likely.

The original Acura RSX was an attractive sport coupe built from the 2002 to 2006 model years, but the 2026 Acura RSX is reinventing the nameplate in the form of an all-electric premium SUV. The RSX will be the second electric vehicle from the Acura brand after the ZDX, but it will be Honda’s first independently developed EV.
In fact, the upcoming RSX electric SUV will have some cutting-edge technology seeing its first application in a production Honda, including the new ASIMO OS operating system Honda showed at this year’s CES. The 2026 RSX will also be the first EV produced at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio.
Details on the new RSX are scarce at the moment, but it’s due to enter production later in 2025, so it won’t be too long before more information is available.

While it&#8217;s too early to know the RSX&#8217;s pricing with any certainty, given the vehicle&#8217;s size and positioning below the roughly $65,000-$75,000 range of the ZDX, it&#8217;s likely the RSX will start around $50,000 and rise from there with extra equipment and performance packages.

The 2026 Acura RSX will be an all-new premium electric SUV when it reaches production later this year.

Power, Ride, and Handling

The Corolla Cross Hybrid makes 196 horsepower, which is enough muscle to accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in just over seven seconds. That’s more than acceptable for an SUV in this class, and in our extended testing of this vehicle we came to especially appreciate the electric portion of the hybrid gas-electric powertrain. The Corolla Cross Hybrid just always seemed to have something extra to give thanks to the extra propulsion of those electrons.
Over the years, Toyota has achieved plenty of success by making its vehicles one less thing for owners to think about on the school run or the commute, getting the job done without any fuss. The Corolla Cross Hybrid SUV is like that — easy to drive, if not especially athletic. The ride is comfortable. The cabin is mostly quiet, but we agree with some of our consumer reviews that more sound insulation would be welcome.
Fuel Economy
In combined (mixed city and highway) driving, the Corolla Cross Hybrid achieves 42 mpg. For context, check out the combustion-only Corolla Cross with all-wheel drive, which returns 30 mpg combined. Driving 15,000 miles a year, this hybrid model will use about 142 fewer gallons of gas. That’s a saving of $461, assuming the price of gas is $3.25 a gallon. By the way, the Kia Niro Hybrid delivers between 49 and 53 mpg, depending on the trim level, but it doesn&#8217;t have all-wheel drive.

Fetching Exterior

There’s a bit of a scaled-down <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/rav4/">RAV4</a> look to the 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid. Its new face with a bolder grille projects a more capable attitude. The Corolla Cross Hybrid is lower and shorter than the RAV4 Hybrid, which should make parking even easier. Yet the Corolla Cross Hybrid can still emphasize the utility in “sport utility vehicle.”
Toyota has also taken steps to distinguish this hybrid from its conventional counterpart. The designs at the front and rear are slightly different, 18-inch alloy wheels are available, and the SE and XSE offer two-tone paint jobs. These involve Sonic Silver, Cavalry Blue, or Acidic Blast (a kind of greenish gold) with a black roof.

Hybrid power 
It makes so much sense to enhance a gasoline engine with an electric motor. It provides more thrust while maximizing fuel economy. A win-win situation. Toyota was a pioneer and now a master of hybrid systems.
All-wheel drive 
All-wheel drive is a useful asset in rough weather, and every Corolla Cross Hybrid variant is fitted with it.
Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto 
The ability to integrate a phone into the infotainment system and use apps like Waze is made even better by not needing to get said phone out of a pocket or purse. This is standard across the range. We also appreciate not fussing with cables.
Toyota Safety System 3.0 
This is Toyota’s collective term for a set of advanced driver assistance features that come as standard in every new Corolla Cross Hybrid SUV. As well as the now common forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, there’s adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, pedestrian and motorcycle detection, plus intersection assistance.
Rear Seat Reminder 
If a pet, child, or Aunt Lucy has been mistakenly left in the back seat while the driver is just about to lock up and walk away (no judgement, there’s a lot going on these days) this handy and standard feature will provide the necessary alert.
Integrated Streaming
