Driving Impressions

With a total of 690 hp and 582 lb-ft of torque in launch control mode, the GTS Sport Turismo can accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in an entertaining (and perhaps a little scary) 3.1 seconds. This variant also comes with the Sport Chrono package and push-to-pass feature as standard, bringing a brief 93-hp boost for overtaking. In real life, we’ve found this car’s thrust to be immediate and immense. For comparison, the Mercedes-AMG EQS has a maximum of 751 hp, but is slower to 60 mph by 0.3 of a second.
Here’s the thing about the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo — it’s not just a great luxury electric car, it’s also a superb Porsche, a fine example of the company’s expertise from the feel of the steering to the performance of the brakes. The drivetrain contains two motors and all-wheel drive. These motors can also provide torque vectoring for ultra-efficient cornering. Even so, we still say the optional rear-wheel steering feature is worth considering, because it also enhances maneuverability at slow speeds.
Compared with an entry-level Taycan sedan, this GTS model has upgraded brakes and a sport-tuned adaptive air suspension. Buyers might also be tempted to take ride quality and handling to another level entirely with the Porsche Active Ride suspension for extra-fast responses that control body roll, pitch, dive, and squat. We’re always impressed by this incredible engineering feat whenever we encounter it.
If we had a gripe, it’s the feel of the brake pedal. There’s a bit of initial travel where nothing much happens, which can be disconcerting. Beyond that point, though, the brakes are wonderful. We drove a version with the optional carbon ceramic brakes and recommend choosing this (admittedly expensive) extra because the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo is so fabulously fast. So it’s more confidence-inspiring to have such effective stoppers under one’s foot.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
The 2025 Taycan GTS Sport Turismo achieves a maximum range of 279 miles. This is with the standard-issue Performance Battery Plus. We’ve found Porsche’s range estimates to be achievable in real-world driving, and perhaps even a little understated. For some kind of context, the Tesla Model S (with a hatchback) has a maximum of 402 miles. The Mercedes-AMG EQS is capable of 315 miles. But a Taycan’s appeal goes far beyond range.
According to Porsche, charging the battery from 10% capacity to 80% takes 18 minutes on a DC fast charger’s highest setting. That’s a couple of minutes quicker than last year, and the Taycan lineup was already among the fastest in this respect. Using a home charger with a 240-volt supply, a full recharge takes about 9.5 hours, which is fine for overnight replenishment.

From the nose to the B-pillars, this GTS Sport Turismo looks like a typical member of the Taycan family. Further back, however, comes the Turismo tail, more along the lines of a hatchback or wagon. We like how this is a non-conformist take on a luxury electric car, offering a blend of performance and practicality. For a bit of extra presence, 20-inch alloy wheels are standard.
This year, Porsche has tweaked the styling of the whole Taycan lineup, adding new matrix-design LED headlights and LED taillights, sleeker front fenders, and new aerodynamic wheel designs. Charging ports are now on both sides, which is extra convenient. A broad choice of paint colors is also on offer, including the option of matching to a customer-supplied sample.

Wireless phone integration 
Cable-free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the 2025 Taycan lineup. This year, Apple CarPlay goes even deeper into the car’s systems. There’s also a cooled wireless charging pad. And a new In-Car Video feature allows streaming on the center and front passenger screens.
Porsche Intelligent Range Manager 
A new standard feature throughout the whole 2025 Taycan lineup, this will calculate the most energy-efficient route, taking into account factors like real-time traffic and any charging requirements along the way.
Porsche Electric Sport Sound 
This might seem a bit cheesy in theory, a manufactured sound meant to simulate the growl and bark of a combustion engine and its exhaust system. In practice, we felt the hairs on the backs of our necks go up as the GTS Sport Turismo zipped past us.
Burmester audio 
It’s an option, and isn’t exactly a bargain. But we think this 21-speaker/1,455-watt surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos is about the best, most detailed, most immersive setup you will find in a car.
Variable Light Control 
Available with the panoramic glass roof, it can darken or lighten the glass electronically.
Plug &amp; Charge 
Plug &amp; Charge means that as you connect to a charger, the system recognizes your Taycan GTS Sport Turismo and uses the credit card information on file for a simple and streamlined process.

Classy, Sporty Interior

Interior

A mix of luxury and bespoke Porsche sportiness distinguishes the cabin of the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. For example, there are standard adaptive sport front seats with 18-way power adjustment (they feel ideal), plus a heated GT Sport steering wheel that we think is exactly the right size. Technology makes its presence felt in the 16.8-inch curved display that houses a digital instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the dashboard is topped off by the clock that comes with the standard-issue Sport Chrono package.
In usual Taycan fashion, this version is a 4-seater with two rear seats (a rear center seat is optional) and decent rear legroom. A fixed panoramic roof is also standard.
Cargo space behind the rear seats measures 14.3 cubic feet, expanding to 41.4 cubic feet when those seats are folded down. And all Taycans have an additional 2.9 cubic feet of stowage under the hood.

<a href="http://www.kbb.com/porsche/">Porsche</a> makes GTS versions of several vehicles. They’re not the hardest-core examples with the most power and the firmest suspensions, but they’re definitely in a sweet spot — on the sporty side with more-than-ample muscle. That describes the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo, for the most part. Another crucial aspect, though, is the Turismo treatment, which departs from the regular sedan body by adding a more wagon-like design to the tail.
This is the sibling to the higher-riding Taycan Cross Turismo. Both cars have two electric motors and all-wheel drive. The GTS Sport Turismo is an individual variant (there’s also a GTS Taycan sedan), while the Cross Turismo offers varying levels of power.

Even though there are hundreds of choices in the new-car market, there’s nothing else like a Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. Buyers might also be interested in a <a href="https://www.kbb.com/porsche/taycan-cross-turismo/">Taycan Cross Turismo</a>, especially if they’d like less or more power. One possible alternative could be the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/mercedes-amg-eqs/">Mercedes-AMG EQS</a>, which comes with a hatchback and a price similar to this Porsche. A lighter battery goes into the 2025 Taycan GTS Sport Turismo, with better thermal management and the ability to charge at higher currents than before. When using an 800-volt charging station, the peak rate is 320 kW, up 50 kW from last year. To optimize charging speeds on a 400-volt network, Porsche also adds a 150 kW DC/DC converter as standard. The Performance Battery Plus also increases in gross capacity from 93 kWh to 105 kWh (97 kWh net)
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
Porsche’s new-vehicle warranty lasts four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The battery is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. These arrangements are typical among European luxury vehicles.
<h3>Safety Ratings</h3>
Neither sedan nor Turismo (wagon) versions of the Taycan have been crash-tested by any agencies in the United States, but an independent European test program (Euro NCAP) gave the car a maximum overall score of five stars.

What's new for

The Taycan launched for the 2020 model year, so <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/2025-porsche-taycan-better-in-every-way-and-youll-pay-for-it/">now’s the time for a midgeneration revamp</a>. This entails revised styling (which we explore in the Exterior section below), plus an updated battery resulting in slightly quicker charging and a decent increase in range, from 233 to 279 miles. This year also sees the Sport Turismo body style come solely in GTS form. Last year’s 4S and Turbo GT variants haven’t made it into 2025.

The 2026 Dodge Charger is a reincarnation of the storied muscle car with impressive horsepower wrapped in stylish sheet metal.

The gas-powered Dodge Charger will return for the 2026 model year with two body styles, two outputs, and standard all-wheel drive. We expect pricing to begin at about $40,000.
Following a brief hiatus after the discontinuation of the previous generation of the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/dodge/charger/2023/">Dodge Charger in 2023</a>, a <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/report-dodge-speeding-gas-powered-charger-plan/">gas engine option is returning</a> to the Dodge Charger in 2026. After spending a couple of years exclusively available as the Charger Daytona EV (which we <a href="https://www.kbb.com/dodge/charger-daytona/">review separately</a>), a more affordable Charger with a 6-cylinder gas engine should have more mainstream appeal. Since it will be available in both 2-door coupe and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/dodge-debuts-4-door-charger/">4-door sedan</a> body styles, it effectively replaces both the Charger and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/dodge/challenger/">Challenger</a> of yore. We’re expecting two different output ratings for the &#8220;SIXPACK&#8221; engine and standard all-wheel drive.
<h3>On-Sale Date</h3>
We expect the gas-powered 2026 Dodge Charger to arrive in U.S. dealerships by the end of 2025. It will be offered alongside the Dodge Charger Daytona EV.
<h3>Engine and Transmission</h3>
The 2026 Dodge Charger will be powered by the Hurricane 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, available with a standard output and a high output. Although it doesn’t have the same sound or grit as the Hemi V8 options in the old Charger, we’ve been impressed with the Hurricane engine in <a href="https://www.kbb.com/ram/">Ram</a> trucks and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/jeep/">Jeep</a> SUVs.
The entry-level engine should produce 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque, while the high-output version should make 550 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque. Those are better performance specs than the old Charger R/T and Charger Scat Pack, respectively. All of the above will use an 8-speed automatic transmission, and we expect all-wheel drive to be standard across the board.

2026 Dodge Charger Pricing

We expect the 2026 Dodge Charger to start at about $40,000 with the base, standard-output engine. The high-output version could start at around $50,000. The rumored trim names for the new ICE-powered Charger are GT for standard-output and Outlaw for high-output, so we&#8217;ll go with those cool-sounding names unless Dodge confirms otherwise.

Power, Ride, and Handling

The 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack sources thrust from a dual-motor electric powertrain rated at 670 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Those figures are for when the car is in PowerShot mode. Dodge claims its zero-to-60 mph time is as quick as 3.3 seconds, which is faster than the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/dodge/charger/2023/">old Charger</a> SRT Hellcat.
The Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack is lightning quick from a stop, thanks to instant electric torque delivered to all four wheels. This car likes to be driven fast and is comfortable at any speed. We found the adaptive suspension system in the Scat Pack improves both comfort and performance, and the Brembo brakes have more-than-adequate stopping power.
Some enthusiasts used to chide the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/dodge/challenger/">Dodge Challenger</a> for being too heavy. Those naysayers really won’t like the electric Charger Daytona; it’s about 1,500 pounds heavier. The extra weight inherent in EVs normally doesn’t bother us much in day-to-day driving, but the heft was noticeable when we drove it on a track, and it was less-than-graceful on curvy back roads. That said, going fast in a straight line has always been the calling card of Dodge muscle cars, and the Charger Daytona does that remarkably well, especially when you put it in Drag Mode.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
The Dodge Charger Daytona’s range is up to 241 miles, and likely lower with the available Track Package. Even considering its impressive performance, this is an unimpressive max range rating. The R/T model that was available in 2025 was capable of a 308-mile max range, but that’s gone for 2026.
Meanwhile, the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/tesla/model-3/">Tesla Model 3</a> Performance has a max range of 298 miles, and the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/i4/">BMW i4</a> M50 can travel up to 267 miles on a full charge.
The Charger Daytona can reliably get a full charge overnight on a Level 2 charger, which can be installed in your garage. At a public DC fast charging station with a 350 kW charging speed, it can recharge the same amount in as little as 24 minutes.

Two Doors or Four

The Dodge Charger Daytona is an endangered species of car available with a 2-door or 4-door body style. Both have a nice fuselage shape with distinct styling cues from Dodge muscle cars of the past. We think it’s a great blend of retro and modern, and it has a vibrant color palette of paint options that we expect from a Dodge muscle car.
The Dodge Charger Daytona has one of the most unusual exterior features we’ve ever seen: the Fratzonic &#8220;exhaust&#8221; system. Packaged where a rear diffuser would normally be, it’s capable of making <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-advice/fake-engine-noise/">fake V8 engine noises</a> as you &#8220;rev&#8221; the &#8220;engine.&#8221; This is an EV; it does not have an engine or tailpipes. That’s like if the Ford Model T had speakers that make horse galloping sounds.

Electrifying performance 
Sorry, that was a pun we couldn’t resist. The Charger Daytona’s 670 hp makes it a thrill to drive. We think this pair of electric motors can satisfy most skeptics who miss the Hemi V8 engines.
Standard AWD 
A nice practical feature of the Dodge Charger Daytona is standard all-wheel drive (AWD) in every model. In the previous generation of Dodge muscle cars, all-wheel drive was only available with the base V6 engine.
PowerShot 
Hit the PowerShot button and unlock an extra 40 hp in a 10-second burst. Whether you’re passing a semi on the highway or enjoying some back roads, it’s nice to have that extra boost available.
Uconnect infotainment system 
The Stellantis Uconnect infotainment system has long been one of our favorites. It has user-friendly controls and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The standard Alpine 9-speaker audio system (an 18-speaker Alpine PRO system is optional) makes it even more appealing.
Track Package 
The Track Package available for the Charger Daytona Scat Pack lives up to its name with a competition suspension system with adaptive damping, upgraded tires, and Brembo ultra-high-performance brakes. The black rear spoiler is a nice touch, too.
Fratzonic &#8220;exhaust&#8221; 
Okay, it’s not our favorite feature, but we can’t deny that Fratzonic is unique, and some of you will think it’s cool. The fake exhaust system makes fabricated V8 noises to drive home the muscle car experience. Also, we like that you can turn it off entirely.

Practical Interior

Dodge has no delusions about being a luxury brand, but some of the interior materials of the Charger Daytona aren’t quite up to snuff for a car with a starting price north of $70,000. That said, it’s a perfectly functional interior with user-friendly controls and one of our favorite infotainment systems, which comes standard with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other standard interior features include a 16-inch digital gauge cluster, Alpine audio, and remote start.
Like the Dodge Challenger that came before it, the 2-door Dodge Charger Daytona has a bench back seat you can actually use with a whopping three seatbelts. That might not sound like a big deal, but these back seats are spacious and comfortable compared to the two cramped rear seats of the Ford Mustang. With 37.2 inches of rear legroom, we were pleasantly surprised by the back seat space of the Charger Daytona. That’s 8 inches more than the Mustang and 4 inches more than the discontinued Challenger.
The addition of the 4-door sedan body to the Charger Daytona lineup makes it an even more practical electric muscle car. It will have even more back seat space, and probably about the same trunk space.
One thing we really like about the Charger Daytona is that it’s a liftback; that whole rear glass opens up to reveal a generously sized cargo area ready for this week’s groceries. Also, the back seats can fold flat for even more cargo-hauling ability.

The Dodge Charger Daytona is a car that may seem like an oxymoron — it’s an electric muscle car. It has the performance, aura, and even the sound that embodies a modern take on an old-school American muscle car, but under the hood, there’s a trunk in lieu of a V8. There’s no internal combustion at all; it comes exclusively with a dual-motor electric powertrain that delivers up to 670 horsepower, which is good for a 3.3-second zero-to-60 mph time. Meanwhile, its spacious and high-tech interior and huge trunk make it surprisingly practical. A new four-door option joins the Charger Daytona lineup for 2026, making it available as a coupe or sedan, and Dodge promises a non-Daytona version of the Charger with a 6-cylinder gas engine, which we <a href="https://www.kbb.com/dodge/charger/2026/">review separately</a>.

We expect the 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona to start at about $72,000 for the sole trim option, the Scat Pack. Expect to pay around $1,000 extra for the sedan over the coupe.

A 93.9 kWh battery pack delivers juice to the dual-motor powertrain in the Dodge Charger Daytona. Its max charge rate is 183 kW, making it good for a DC Fast Charge time of 24 minutes to go from 20% to 80%. Its maximum driving range is 241 miles on a full charge, which is low for this class.
In mixed driving, the Charger Daytona Scat Pack gets up to 78 MPGe, resulting in an <a href="https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/make.shtml">EPA</a>-estimated fuel cost of about $83 per month. This efficiency rating is similar to EVs with comparable performance, but the Tesla Model 3 is notably more efficient, with the Performance model getting 109 MPGe.
<h3>3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
The Dodge Charger Daytona is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is typical coverage. Additionally, the battery is covered by an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty.
<h3>Safety</h3>
Standard safety features in the Charger Daytona include the Active Driving Assist highway assist system, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and drowsy driver detection.

The Dodge Charger Daytona gets one big addition and one big subtraction for the 2026 model year. A new <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/dodge-debuts-4-door-charger/">four-door sedan body is now available</a>, making the Charger Daytona one of the few cars on the market available as either a coupe or a sedan. Meanwhile, the previous entry-level R/T trim and its corresponding powertrain <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/dodge-delays-cheaper-electric-charger/">aren’t available this year</a>, leaving the high-performance (and high-dollar) Scat Pack as the only trim.
Also new this year are two new aesthetic options: what Dodge calls Fratzog dual stripes and a gloss black painted hood. These are available for both the coupe and sedan to enhance the muscle car look and feel.
In related news, Dodge says a gas-powered version of the Charger will be available in the second half of 2025, presumably as a 2026 model. We’ll review that separately when it arrives.

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV is an impressively powerful and refined midsize electric luxury SUV.

A massive 617-horsepower total output from two electric motors gives the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV truly brisk acceleration, with a claimed zero-to-60-mph time of just 3.4 seconds. That’s down there in serious sports car territory. The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, for example, is a half-second quicker. The AMG Dynamic Plus package also brings a temporary boost to 677 hp.
Throw in the AMG-tuned performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD) system, AMG Ride Control+ air suspension, 9-degree rear axle steering, AMG high-performance compound brakes, plus a range of performance modes, and the AMG EQE SUV is ready to tackle just about anything anyone can throw at it, especially if that includes a series of demanding curves.
Otherwise, when driven sensibly, the AMG EQE SUV shares many of the traits of the non-AMG version, meaning it’s comfortable, quiet, and easy to drive, especially with the standard active safety features onboard.
Range and Charging
The dual-motor drivetrain in the AMG EQE SUV draws its power from a 90.6-kWh battery that, per EPA estimates, can provide up to 230 miles of range. That’s a bit less than the 302 miles of the non-AMG model, about 50 miles less than the BMW iX M60, or about 100 miles below the max of the Rivian R1S Tri.
The AMG EQE SUV charges quickly on DC fast charging, with a 10%-to-80% replenishment taking just 32 minutes at 170 kW. The SUV uses the CCS (Combined Charging System) plug rather than the more popular NACS plug.

Elegant Exterior

Sleek, smooth, and futuristic, the AMG EQE SUV’s exterior design is simple yet elegant. The clean lines imply aerodynamic efficiency while the flared fenders and large wheels hint at the performance that awaits.
Updates for the 2025 AMG EQE SUV’s exterior are few, with a new Moonlight White Metallic paint replacing the previous Diamond White in the Manufaktur line of factory-custom options.

AMG Dynamic Plus package 
This $4,000 extra adds a Race Start feature and temporarily boosts total output to 677 hp for extra-quick launches. Top speed increases to 149 mph.
Augmented Reality 
Navigating unfamiliar areas is much easier with this system, which overlays street names, directions, and other helpful info onto a live camera view of the vehicle&#8217;s surroundings. This system is included with the Pinnacle trim.
Hyperscreen 
The Hyperscreen stretches 56 inches across the dashboard — truly next-level technology. It houses a 12.3-inch driver display, a central 17.7-inch OLED touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch display for the front passenger.
Burmester Audio 
This top-tier surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos is standard in every EQE SUV, and it’s one of our favorites.
Pinnacle trim 
In addition to the augmented reality navigation system, the Pinnacle trim adds active ambient lighting for dynamic effects, a cabin fragrance and air purification system, a head-up display (HUD), and more.
Acoustic Comfort package 
The cabin of an all-electric performance luxury SUV like the AMG EQE SUV is already quiet, yet it can be hushed even more with this laminated acoustic membrane glass treatment. Bonus: The treatment also absorbs infrared light, making the cabin cooler.

Elegant and Roomy Interior

Like all modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the AMG EQE SUV’s cabin is refined, elegant, high-tech, and filled with premium materials.
The front seats are especially comfortable, and rear accommodations are similarly roomy, with 40.6 inches of legroom in both rows. That’s about an inch and a half more than in the second row of the BMW iX, and about four inches more than the Rivian R1S.

Even more powerful, stylish, and tech-packed than the non-AMG variant, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV is a fierce performance machine as well as a comfortable luxury electric SUV. It was <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/">Mercedes-Benz</a>&#8216;s first all-electric high-performance SUV, and it has set the standard for the company’s marriage of environmentalism and enthusiasm.

Starting above $110,000, the 2025 AMG EQE SUV is a premium purchase, to be sure. Yet it’s still priced competitively against rivals, which include the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/rivian/r1s/">Rivian R1S</a>, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/ix/2025/">BMW iX</a>, and the loaded versions of the upcoming <a href="https://www.kbb.com/cadillac/lyriq-v/">Cadillac Lyriq-V</a>.
The comparable Rivian R1S has a 3-motor drivetrain and starts around $108,000. It also has more space and towing capacity than the AMG EQE SUV. The BMW iX is also larger than this Mercedes-AMG model and is about as powerful in M60 form.
The upcoming Lyriq-V offers about the same horsepower but is considerably more affordable, starting at around $85,000 and up to about $100,000 fully loaded. The <a href="https://www.kbb.com/tesla/model-x/">Tesla Model X Plaid</a> might also be considered a competitor based on price and performance, but it lags significantly in the luxury and equipment aspects of the AMG EQE SUV. On the other hand, the Model X offers significantly more range and even quicker acceleration.

Being only a few years old, there’s not a ton of resale data, but based on what’s out there, the AMG EQE SUV is holding its value better than the average electric luxury vehicle. The single Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV powertrain comprises two electric motors, a 90.6-kWh battery, and a single-speed transmission. AMG-specific 4Matic+ all-wheel drive dynamically routes the power to all four wheels.
4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty
Mercedes-Benz covers the new vehicle and its powertrain for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is a typical warranty among European luxury manufacturers. The EQE SUV’s batteries are covered for 10 years or 155,000 miles, which is better than most and more than the federally required eight years/100,000 miles.
Safety Ratings
Although the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV hasn’t been crash-tested by any agencies in the United States, the model it’s based on did earn the maximum five stars overall from the similar Euro NCAP program.

Minor equipment updates to the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV for 2025 include a newly standard center airbag between the front seats, standard rear headrest pillows, and pre-installation for a Digital Vehicle Key.

The 2026 Toyota bZ takes its place alongside the top contenders among compact SUV EVs, posting healthy range, performance, and safety numbers.

To date, we haven’t spent enough time in the refreshed bZ to wax on at length about its driving characteristics. However, one of our editors did spend a couple of hours in a 2026 bZ, tooling around the streets and roads surrounding the Toyota headquarters in Texas. Her reaction was predictable. The extra power was immediately noticeable, as it should be.
That 50% boost in the pony count from 214 horsepower to 338 hp for the all-wheel-drive, dual-motor configuration is a major gain. Although the single-motor, front-wheel-drive versions aren’t up as much, they still jump from 201 hp to 221 hp. By the way, that’s about average for the base setup in this segment.
Because the steering and suspension are unchanged from the bZ4X to the bZ, we assume that handling is roughly the same. That is, placing the battery pack under the floor contributes to a stable, low center of gravity, enhancing the feeling of agility and increasing confidence. However, that’s pretty much the same layout as every other electric vehicle, so the bZ doesn’t gain any real advantage over its rivals in that regard. As with its competitors, we found the bZ’s predecessor rode smoothly, if a bit stiffly, and handled corners with competence. When we can spend days rather than hours with the bZ, we’ll let you know here if it lives up to expectations.
One unexpected feature is X-Mode on all all-wheel-drive models. Borrowed from Subaru — the bZ is closely related to the Subaru Solterra — this feature provides a more aggressive off-road setting.
<h3>Range And Charging</h3>
Estimated ranges depend on the trim level, motor count, and battery size. Only the base, front-wheel-drive XLE uses the smallish 57.7-kWh battery. Every other bZ configuration gets the bigger 74.7-kWh battery.

The increases in range certainly make the bZ competitive within the segment. The Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5 are in the same maximum-range league.
The big news on the charging front is that the bZ now comes with a North American Charging System (NACS) charging port, allowing access to the vast network of Tesla DC fast chargers. When using one, Toyota says you can top off the battery charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. Also new for 2026 is Plug &amp; Charge capability, which eliminates the need to initiate a charging session using your phone. Another new feature is a battery pre-conditioning function, which shortens winter charging times by bringing the battery to its optimal charging temperature prior to charging.
Although Toyota doesn’t provide estimated charge times for AC charging at home, it has upped the onboard AC charger capacity from 7 kW to 11 kW. This should shorten charging times when using Level 1 or Level 2 charging schemes.

Updated Exterior

Toyota toned things down a bit on the outside of the bZ. We like the squinty headlights tied together by a wrap-around light bar. The tail has undergone some minor revamping, as well.

Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto 
Standard in both trims, the ability to integrate phones into the infotainment system without using a cable is wonderfully convenient.
Toyota Safety Sense 
This set of advanced safety features is standard in every bZ4X electric SUV. It includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, plus the ability to detect not only pedestrians but also cyclists (in low-light conditions), motorcyclists (in daylight), and guardrails. Blind-spot monitoring is also standard.
Heat pump 
Granted, this is not the most exciting aspect of EV ownership, but every bZ4X has a heat pump as standard. It scavenges thermal energy created by the drivetrain, sending it into the cabin as required. It means the battery can devote more energy to range.
Hey, Toyota 
German luxury cars have had this kind of thing for years, but the bZ comes with a digital assistant summoned by saying, “Hey, Toyota.” Then a command given in natural speech — like “lower the cabin temperature by five degrees” — is obeyed.
Digital Key 
This comes with the top Limited trim. It allows owners to share their bZ with up to seven others, each able to access and start the car with their phones.
Dual Wireless Charging Pads 
Front passengers will be thrilled to find the side-by-side wireless charging pads located on the center console. This allows the driver and the passenger to wirelessly charge their phones at the same time. What will they think of next?

Space and Tech

The bZ 5-passenger SUV packs plenty of interior space within its small footprint. Up front, the updated, slimmer dashboard is covered with fabric, a pleasant change from the usual plastic. Toyota added driver-customizable 64-color front/rear ambient lighting. An ample 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters controlling the degree of the regenerative braking is heated.
A 7-inch LCD information display is directly in front of the driver. To its right, in the center of the dashboard, is a 14-inch infotainment display. It features hard controls for volume and climate control.
Rear legroom measures 35.3 inches, perhaps just enough for adults of average size. If a full complement of passengers is going to be a regular occurrence, though, keep in mind that the Ioniq 5 has 41.7 inches of rear legroom. The bZ’s luggage area tops out at a generous 27.7 cubic feet (the same as the Kia EV6 and a little more than the Hyundai Ioniq 5).

Addressing many of the original bZ4X shortcomings, Toyota also rechristened it the Toyota bZ for the 2026 model year. In doing so, it has transformed this all-electric compact SUV into a more formidable competitor. Boasting an estimated maximum range of 314 miles — more than a 25% improvement — and faster charging times, the bZ can now go toe to toe with the segment’s leaders, giving informed shoppers a reason to buy the bZ for reasons beyond Toyota’s reputation for reliability and better-than-average resale values. In short, 2026 represents a giant leap forward for Toyota’s only electric vehicle (EV).

2026 Toyota bZ Pricing

The 2026 Toyota bZ will start at an estimated $41,000. This price is for the entry-level XLE front-wheel-drive (FWD) model, and includes the factory-to-dealer delivery charge. Toyota has been tight-lipped about pricing thus far. We know there are two core trim levels (XLE and Limited), and that Toyota will offer each with single-motor front-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. Actually, there is a fifth configuration with a smaller battery and single-motor version of the XLE, which we used to estimate the starting price above. Toyota makes no mention of the Nightshade trim that slotted between the XLE and Limited in the 2025 bZ4X lineup in the currently available information. It was primarily an appearance upgrade to the XLE, so we are ignoring it for now.

We think the all-wheel drive XLE will be the trim-level sweet spot in terms of price and content. The competitive pool among compact electric SUVs is deep indeed. We think the revitalized bZ will still be in the pricing ballpark with heavyweights, such as the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/hyundai/ioniq-5/">Hyundai Ioniq 5</a>, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/kia/ev6/">Kia EV6</a>, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/nissan/ariya/">Nissan Ariya</a>, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/tesla/model-y/">Tesla Model Y</a>, and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/volkswagen/id4/">Volkswagen ID.4</a>. The <a href="https://www.kbb.com/chevrolet/equinox-ev/">Chevrolet Equinox EV</a> will remain one of the bargains in this class.

Battery And Efficiency

Toyota arms the bZ with one of two batteries. Only available in the entry-level XLE FWD trim is a 57.7-kWh battery with a single motor powering the front wheels. All the other versions from the single motor XLE FWD Plus and up use a 74.7-kWh battery. The government has yet to release any estimated MPGe numbers.
3-year/36,000-Mile Warranty
Toyota’s new vehicle warranty lasts three years or 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. Powertrains are covered for five years or 60,000 miles. These are typical among mainstream manufacturers, but not as good as Hyundai and Kia. The lithium-ion battery has an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty. Toyota also provides free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles, plus two years of roadside assistance (unlimited mileage).
Safety Ratings
Despite its significant upgrades for 2026, we think it will retain the 2025 bZ4X safety ratings. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="http://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>) gave the bZ4X a maximum 5-Star overall score, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>) named it a 2025 Top Safety Pick+.

Although <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Toyota</a> isn’t billing it as a major midcycle refresh, we certainly understand anyone’s misconception that it is just that. The improvements are significant and, we argue, game-changing. Highlighting the upgrades are new motors and a new battery, resulting in more horsepower and greater maximum range. Furthermore, recharging performance is improved when home charging because of a higher capacity (11-kW vs. 7-kW) onboard AC charger, and when on the road, thanks to now being equipped with a North American Charging System (NACS) port, which allows it to access thousands of Tesla fast charging stations nationwide.
Toyota has toned down the exterior styling a bit. A wraparound light bar now ties together the thin LED headlights. Although you can still get the rather jarring black overfenders accenting the exterior of 2025 versions, Toyota also offers them color matched to the rest of the exterior paint. Inside, a larger 14-inch touchscreen highlights a new instrument panel design.
