We really enjoy driving the Ioniq 5, and we think you will, too. Like all electric vehicles, the Ioniq 5 benefits from instant torque, which means it’s ready to jump off the line as soon as you prod the accelerator pedal. Unlike many other EVs, though, the Ioniq 5 is rear-wheel drive by default, similar to a sports car. And like a sports car, that means it behaves in a livelier manner. Another benefit of this setup is you needn’t worry about torque steer, which happens when you ask the front wheels to both put power to the ground and steer. Under hard acceleration, such a scenario can mean fighting with the steering wheel to hold steady. Not so in the Ioniq 5.
Of course, you can also get the Ioniq 5 in all-wheel drive, which puts a motor at each axle and provides enhanced grip in both wet and dry conditions. It can also mean a lot more power and even faster acceleration. An Ioniq 5 SEL with all-wheel drive, for example, can go from zero to 60 mph in a blistering 4.5 seconds thanks to its 320-horsepower powertrain. Base models make do with 168 hp, while others get a more gratifying 225 hp.
Conversely, we really like the way in which the Ioniq 5 stops. It uses regenerative braking that transfers energy back into the battery, and the levels at which it does so can be adjusted on the fly via steering wheel-mounted paddles. We love using these like one would shift paddles in a sports car to, say, increase regen to slow the car as you head into a curve. And unlike some other EVs, the Ioniq 5 allows one-pedal driving, in which regen braking can bring the vehicle to a complete stop without you having to touch the brake pedal.
Range and Charging
If the 2026 Ioniq 5 keeps the same numbers as the prior year, it achieves up to 318 miles on the high end for a rear-drive, long-range model and 259 for an all-wheel-drive XRT. These numbers, especially for models falling in the 270-290 range, are more than acceptable and competitive with rivals, though still far shy of the Tesla Model Y’s 357-mile max range. As for charging, at its best, the Ioniq 5 can go from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes on a DC fast charger. Home charging on a Level 2 system takes a bit over five to seven hours, depending on model. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 uses a NACS charge port, making it compatible with Tesla’s network of Supercharger stations.

We confess to being smitten by the Ioniq 5’s design ever since it seemed to step out of a 1980s video game into reality. Angular, squat, with moody and pixelated lighting treatments, we just love the thing. It’s arguably more hot hatch than SUV, which only makes us dig it more. For a more rugged approach, there’s the Ioniq 5 XRT model, with chunkier all-terrain tires, a smidge more ground clearance (7 inches, vs. 6.1 for other models), and specific front and rear treatments that include red tow hooks and “digital camouflage” cladding. For 2026, the Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl paint colors that were previously reserved for the XRT are now available on all trims.

Ultra-fast charging 
The Ioniq 5’s batteries can cope with an 800-volt DC fast charger. On a 250-kilowatt unit, all it takes is 20 minutes to go from 10% to 80% capacity, making the Ioniq 5 one of the fastest-charging EVs out there. It’s still a quick 24 minutes on a 400-volt, 150-kilowatt charger.
Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto 
This is becoming more common, yet we are still glad to see it as standard in the Ioniq 5. Wireless phone charging becomes standard with the SEL trim.
Hands-free tailgate operation with auto-open 
Detecting the key’s proximity, the powered tailgate opens automatically, so there’s no need to wave a foot under the bumper. This comes in at the SEL trim level.
Driver’s relaxation seat 
In the short-ish time it takes to recharge an Ioniq 5 EV, drivers can relax by reclining their power-adjustable seat and extending the leg support — like an airplane seat in business class. This is exclusive to the Limited trim, though.
Reverse charging 
The official term is vehicle-to-load, or V2L. It means that electricity can also be taken out of the battery (as long as it has more than 20% juice) to power an air fryer while camping or keep the fridge running during a power outage, for instance. It’s another standard feature in the Limited model.
Remote Smart Parking Assist 
This feature allows drivers to inch their Ioniq 5 into or out of a parking space using remote control, while standing outside the vehicle. It’s standard in the XRT and Limited trims.

Airy Interior

A benefit of electric vehicles is that, since their battery is mounted low in the frame, the floor can be flat — no ungainly or obtrusive transmission tunnels here. The Ioniq 5 smartly capitalizes on this with an interior that feels more airy and expansive than its exterior footprint would lead you to believe.
Up front, there are two 12.3-inch screens — one for the instrument cluster, the other as a touchscreen for infotainment duties. Below the center screen are controls for climate and audio, a good mix of physical buttons and dials, along with touch-sensitive controls. Even the way you put the vehicle into gear is smart: It’s a steering wheel-mounted stalk that you twist to put into drive, reverse, etc. This saves space on the floor and console, allowing you to slide your feet all the way across if you want to play footsie with your passenger. Please, though, not while driving.
In back, there’s a generous amount of legroom — 39.4 inches — and the seats both fold in a 60/40 split and recline. Behind the seats is a good 26.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity, which expands to a very useful 58.5 cubic feet with the seats folded. The 2026 Ioniq 5 also has a frunk — a front trunk — with just under a cubic foot of storage. That’s enough to store the charging cable or takeout from the fast food joint that would otherwise smell up the interior.

Thanks to a hefty price cut to help buyers who can no longer receive a federal tax credit, the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a much lower manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) than the 2025 model. The base trim is $7,600 less, while other trims have a price cut of as much as $9,800. Most others see their price lowered by around $9,200. These prices include the destination fee or destination charge fee.

With its reduced pricing for 2026, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 remains among the most affordable compact electric SUVs you can buy. Still, the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/chevrolet/equinox-ev/">Chevrolet Equinox EV</a> starts slightly below it, as does the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/bz/">Toyota bZ</a>. The Ioniq 5 uses either a 63 kWh battery in base models or an 84 kWh unit in the others. Rear-wheel drive and one motor is the standard setup, or you can opt for two motors and all-wheel drive, which is standard on the XRT model.
The Ioniq 5 earns mpg equivalent (MPGe) ratings of up to 115 for a standard-range model or 94 for the XRT.
5-Year/60,000-Mile Warranty
Hyundai has some of the longest warranties in the business. The company’s new-vehicle coverage lasts five years or 60,000 miles, whichever happens first. Powertrains and the Ioniq 5’s battery have warranties of 10 years or 100,000 miles. Hyundai also includes three years of free scheduled servicing.

The 2026 Nissan Murano is powered by a 241-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine matched with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD).
This powertrain is similar to the one in the bigger and more expensive <a href="https://www.kbb.com/infiniti/qx60/">Infiniti QX60</a>. It’s one of Nissan’s VC-Turbo engines, capable of changing the engine’s compression ratio based on the driver’s inputs. It’s more responsive in spirited driving and more efficient in relaxed highway driving. However, we found it a little noisy when accelerating from a standstill, making us miss the grunt of the V6 that powered all previous Murano generations.
Speaking of relaxed, that’s how we’d sum up the Murano’s driving experience. Comfort has always been the Murano’s calling card, and that hasn’t changed with this generation. The ride is smooth and comfortable, the weight of the steering is just right, and it’s just plain easy to drive.
We were puzzled when the 2025 Murano came out without the ProPILOT 2.1 hands-free driving system on the options list, so we&#8217;re glad it’s now available in the Platinum trim of the 2026 model. This allows for hands-off-the-wheel, eyes-on-the-road driving on certain highways, enhancing the serene driving experience of the Murano.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The Nissan Murano is rated at 21 city/27 highway/23 combined mpg, which is about average for this class. If you&#8217;re looking for something more efficient in this class, consider the plug-in hybrid versions of the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/jeep/grand-cherokee-4xe/">Jeep Grand Cherokee</a> and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mazda/cx-70-phev/">Mazda CX-70</a> or the hybrid-only <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/crown-signia/">Toyota Crown Signia</a>.

Sleek Exterior

The Nissan Murano’s design doesn’t look quite like anything else in its class, and we love the optional black contrast roof available with five paint options. In an era when everything is getting boxier to chase a rugged aesthetic, we can appreciate the characterful curvy lines in the Murano’s design.

Zero Gravity seats 
These supremely comfortable seats were engineered to reduce fatigue on long drives. They’re standard in front and back, which your passengers will appreciate.
ProPILOT Assist 
The standard Nissan ProPILOT Assist system makes highway driving safer and more relaxed with features like adaptive cruise control, steering assist, and lane centering. The ProPILOT 2.1 system available with the Platinum trim even lets you take your hands off the wheel on certain highways.
VC-Turbo engine 
The VC-Turbo engine has class-exclusive variable compression engineering, which finds the right balance of power and efficiency based on the driver’s inputs.
Dual 12.3-inch displays 
These big displays come standard, contributing to a high-tech feel inside the Murano’s upscale interior. They’re user-friendly and come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless integration with your phone.
Panoramic sunroof 
The SL and Platinum trims have a huge panoramic sunroof, creating an open and airy feel in the premium cabin. We love how it makes sunlight reflect on the “Murano glass” trim on the dash and door panels.
Luxurious Platinum trim 
The top Platinum model does a seriously impressive impression of a pricier luxury SUV. Just a few features include semi-aniline quilted leather upholstery; heated, cooled, and massaging front seats; a Bose audio system; 21-inch wheels; and a head-up display.

Premium Interior

The interior is a strong suit of the 2026 Nissan Murano. The design is lovely, and the materials are nice, especially in the top Platinum trim we tested with its semi-aniline leather upholstery and massaging front seats. We’re especially fond of the Twilight Blue interior color and “Murano glass” trim.
We found climbing into the Nissan Murano’s driver’s seat to be about as easy as getting into a recliner. It’s a nice height for easy ingress and egress. Once inside, we appreciated the Zero Gravity seats, which are present in front and the outboard rear seats. These were carefully engineered to maximize comfort and reduce fatigue on long drives. We can confirm that they’re really that comfortable; we were in no hurry to get out of the Murano when we tested it.
The tech inside the Nissan Murano was thoroughly updated with its 2025 redesign. Dual 12.3-inch displays come standard: a digital gauge cluster and center infotainment screen housed in one big rectangle. It has smartphone connectivity tech like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and we’re grateful that Google Maps now powers the onboard navigation system.
The rear seats are plenty comfortable for average-sized adults, but most rivals have more legroom in the back. The Murano has 36.3 inches of rear legroom, which is less than almost all of its direct rivals. It&#8217;s a similar story with cargo space; enough for most folks in the market for an SUV like this, but less than some roomier midsize 2-row SUVs, like the Mazda CX-70 and VW Atlas Cross Sport.

The Nissan Murano is a midsize SUV for drivers who prioritize comfort and safety over off-road ruggedness or tire-smoking performance. This is evident in its comfortable seats, modern tech features, and easygoing ride quality that make it remind us of a pricier luxury SUV. The Murano gets some nice improvements for 2026, like standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and an optional hands-free highway driving feature. Another feather in this Nissan’s cap is top-notch safety scores, bolstering its credentials as a family hauler.

Power for the 2026 Nissan Murano comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It’s rated at 241 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. That’s a little less power and a little more torque than the V6 in the previous generation. The 2026 Nissan Murano can tow 1,500 pounds, which is low for this class. The Honda Passport and VW Atlas Cross Sport can pull 5,000 pounds, while the Jeep Grand Cherokee can lug 6,200 pounds.
This VC-Turbo engine has variable compression engineering, but one of its chief rivals, the Mazda CX-70, is both more powerful and more efficient without needing to change its compression ratio.
<h3>3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
Standard for this class, Nissan provides the Murano with limited bumper-to-bumper coverage for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The powertrain limited warranty extends to five years or 60,000 miles. Nissan also provides free 24/7 roadside assistance for the duration of the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

A redesigned Nissan Murano just came out for 2025, and the 2026 model already gets some welcome improvements. For starters, all-wheel drive is now standard on every model. The Blazer’s core powertrain is a 228-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available on every trim.
The turbocharged 4-cylinder suits the Blazer’s weight, delivering a zero-to-60-mph time just over six seconds and plenty of passing power.
Steering feels well weighted, and while no midsize SUV is a sports car, the Blazer corners with more confidence than most, and the braking inspires trust. The suspension strikes a sweet balance, being soft enough for comfort, yet firm enough to stay composed in quick corners.
The Blazer’s cabin is quiet, though not quite luxury-vehicle quiet, thanks to active noise cancellation, which does an admirable job on wind and road noise.
The available V6 is an option only with the RS trim. It transforms the Blazer from sporty to genuinely quick. The bigger engine is certainly a worthy upgrade for some, but most buyers will be happy with the 4-cylinder.
Fuel Economy
EPA ratings for front-wheel-drive, 4-cylinder Blazers: 22 mpg city/29 highway/25 combined. All-wheel drive drops those figures to 22/27/24.
The V6 reduces efficiency, but not too much: front-wheel drive gets 19/26/22, and all-wheel drive nets 18/26/21.

Muscular Exterior

Chevy borrowed from the sporty and aggressive Camaro design language for the Blazer’s exterior look. While rivals chase rugged, boxy styling, the Blazer remains the sportiest-looking midsize two-row SUV at non-luxury prices.

Average size these days, but Chevy’s interface is intuitive. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard.

Every Blazer trim includes it — rare in this segment and a lifesaver in cold climates.
Chevy Safety Assist 
Standard suite includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, following distance indicator, and auto high beams. Options add adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Two engine options 
Few rivals offer a choice. A V6 is starting to become a rarity in this segment, and we appreciate that there&#8217;s still one available in the Blazer.
Sporty RS trim 
The Blazer’s bold look gets backup from an optional 308-hp V6, blacked-out emblems, unique wheels, and black leather with red accents.
Midnight Edition 
The Midnight Edition adds black trim and wheels, bringing a darker aesthetic to the stylish Chevy Blazer.

Comfortable Interior

Most trims feature a traditional gauge cluster, but the RS adds a digital display. A 10.2-inch touchscreen sits high on the dash for infotainment, with separate climate controls below — no hunting through menus to change the temp.
Many new models merge multiple screens into one wide panel, but we like Chevy’s split setup. It keeps everything visible and easy to reach, and your hands don’t block your view of important information.
Chevy may have retired the Camaro, but its design DNA lives on here. Turbine-style vents add flair, and RS trims tint them to match interior accents.
Rear-seat space beats the Chevy Equinox, with standout legroom. Sunroof-equipped models offer better headroom than many rivals, which is handy if you’re hauling adults or taller teens often.
Our main gripe? Cargo space. At 30.5 cu ft behind the second row, the Blazer ranks near the bottom of its class. Fold the seats and there’s plenty of space, but most competitors offer more room with seats up.

In a class where most designs blur together, the Blazer stands out. Its lines borrow heavily from Chevy’s sports cars, and though this look debuted in 2019, it still feels fresh — especially as rivals chase boxy, off-road vibes. Inside, you’ll find an intuitive infotainment system, and if you want more muscle, there’s an optional V6.
Cargo space? That’s where the Blazer comes up short. A Honda Passport or even a Toyota RAV4 will haul more. But passenger space in both rows is generous.
The midsize 2-row SUV field is crowded with solid choices, but the Blazer is among the most stylish options.

The base 2LT is the best-selling trim, and it comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, and heated front seats, plenty of tech and comfort for most buyers. If you’re looking for leather seating, that’s reserved for the RS, which has an optional V6.
The Blazer sits toward the lower end of segment pricing, with rivals often costing thousands more.

Chevrolet gives Blazer buyers two engine choices, both paired with a 9-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available with either engine.
The 228-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder is the volume seller and the right pick for most. It delivers easy cruising and solid fuel economy without breaking a sweat.
Want more punch? The 308-hp V6 is your ticket. It costs more and sips a bit more fuel, so it’s best for those who value speed enough to accept the tradeoffs.
<h3>3-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
Chevy’s coverage is typical for a mainstream brand. The bumper-to-bumper warranty runs three years or 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. The powertrain gets five years or 60,000 miles. Scheduled maintenance is covered for the first year, but don’t weigh that heavily, as modern cars need little service early on, so the savings are minimal.
<h3>Safety Ratings</h3>
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings">NHTSA</a>) gave the 2025 Blazer its top overall score of 5 Stars, and the 2026 model is essentially identical, so it should also fare well. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/">IIHS</a>) hasn’t fully tested the latest models yet, but the mechanically identical 2024 earned “Good” marks.

The Chevy Blazer drops the Premier trim level for 2026. Also, the turbo 4-cylinder engine is now standard on every trim. The available V6 is now exclusively optional in the RS trim, where it used to be standard.

The Kia Sorento PHEV is a safe and practical 3-row family SUV that can travel up to 31 miles on electricity alone.

The Kia Sorento PHEV is propelled by a 261-horsepower plug-in hybrid setup employing a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD). Although it has a bit more muscle than the regular Sorento Hybrid (34 more horses, 12 more lb-ft of torque), acceleration is similar due to the weight of the larger battery.
Even so, zipping from a standstill to 60 mph in about 8.6 seconds is quick enough for confident highway merging and passing. In our experience, it feels lively from behind the wheel. Should potential buyers think they need more thrust, the Mazda CX-90 PHEV develops 323 hp and hits 60 mph at least two seconds sooner.
In electric driving, the Sorento PHEV accelerates smoothly and quietly. In hybrid mode, power delivery and braking feel aren’t quite as steady and seamless as we’ve experienced in the 2-row <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/rav4-plug-in-hybrid/">Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid</a>, but that’s a high bar. Overall, we’ve found the Sorento PHEV responsive around town and comfortable on the highway.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The Sorento PHEV can run for 31 miles using just electricity. When the battery is depleted, it achieves 33 mpg in combined city/highway driving. That’s pretty good, but the regular Sorento Hybrid, which doesn’t plug in, gets 37 combined mpg with front-wheel drive (FWD) and 34 combined mpg with all-wheel drive.
Whether the Sorento PHEV brings significant fuel savings compared to the Sorento Hybrid depends on how often you use the gas engine. According to EPA estimates, the PHEV only saves you about $20/month compared to the conventional all-wheel-drive hybrid, but your fuel costs can vary greatly with driving habits and the costs of energy and gas in your area.
Another thing to consider is the total range, if that’s important to you. With a full battery and a full tank of gas, the Sorento PHEV goes 440 miles, while the Sorento Hybrid traverses 637 miles with a full gas tank.

Modern Exterior

We like the contemporary aesthetic of the Kia Sorento PHEV, which looks rugged without going overboard. This year, the SX Prestige trim gets the X-Line appearance package, which adds stylish black wheels and black exterior accents.

Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto 
Cable-free phone integration is standard in both Sorento PHEV trims, and we love the convenience and tidiness of this feature. Wireless charging is also on board.
Infotainment system 
The standard 12.3-inch display in the Sorento PHEV is feature-rich and user-friendly. The SX Prestige takes the tech to the next level with a curved display, adding a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
Smart Power Tailgate 
Imagine walking up to your locked Sorento PHEV, hands full of shopping, kids, accordions, whatever. Stand by the smart tailgate for three seconds (while having the key in a pocket or purse) and it will open automatically, then close with the touch of a button. It’s a standard item and, again, we’re all for making life easier.
Smart Cruise Control 
More than adaptive cruise control, machine learning means it can adapt to and emulate driving styles. We’ve found it to feel quite natural.
Highway Driving Assist 2 
Installed in the SX Prestige trim, this helps alleviate the fatigue of long freeway stretches by keeping the Sorento Hybrid in its lane, maintaining a safe distance to the vehicle in front, and assisting with lane-changing maneuvers. Stay alert; you still have to keep a hand on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
Blind-Spot View Monitor 
This SX Prestige feature shows real-time video in the driver information display, with more detail than regular blind-spot monitoring can convey. In our opinion, greater awareness of surroundings can only be a good thing.

3-Row Interior

We like the Sorento PHEV’s generally pleasant cabin, with its fine materials and well-placed controls. The simulated leather seating surfaces in the EX feel sufficiently premium, while the higher SX Prestige trim offers genuine leather.
The cabin&#8217;s centerpiece is a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. The SX Prestige gains a dual 12.3-inch setup in a single curved unit, the other screen serving as a digital instrument cluster. We&#8217;ve consistently praised Kia’s infotainment system for its quality graphics, modern features, and user-friendly controls, and the Sorento PHEV&#8217;s screen is no exception.
As with the standard Sorento Hybrid, this year the Sorento PHEV offers a bench seat in the second row, which means total seating for up to seven people. Second-row captain’s chairs are now optional on the EX trim and remain standard in the SX Premium. This setup reduces total seating capacity to six, but captain&#8217;s chairs are more comfortable than a 3-across bench seat, and they make the third row easier to access.
Passenger space is generous in the first two rows, with plenty of legroom and headroom. The third row is a kids-only zone, though, with just 29.6 inches of legroom. If you plan to use the third row on a regular basis, we highly recommend looking into the larger <a href="https://www.kbb.com/kia/telluride/">Kia Telluride</a> or the electric <a href="https://www.kbb.com/kia/ev9/">Kia EV9</a>.
Cargo space is tight when all three rows are in place, only 12.6 cubic feet behind the rearmost seats. This opens out to 38.5 cubic feet behind row two when they’re folded. With rows two and three down, there’s an ample 75.5 cubic feet. This cargo volume is very similar to that of the Mazda CX-90 PHEV.
