Driving Impressions

The 2026 GMC Acadia is powered by a 328-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. We tend to like having an old-fashioned V6 in a vehicle dedicated to hauling lots of people and cargo, but this turbo-4 did just fine when we tested it in real-life family car duty with all three rows occupied. Even when full of passengers, the Acadia never felt underpowered, but the engine did get a bit noisy under hard acceleration, subtracting from the luxurious feel.
Ride quality is a strong suit of the GMC Acadia. In the Denali model we tested, GMC hit the mark in providing a ride comparable to that of a more expensive luxury SUV. The suspension is supple (especially the optional adaptive suspension in the Ultimate Package), the steering is just right, and the brakes are adequate.
One of our favorite features of the Acadia is <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/gms-super-cruise-now-covers-750000-miles-of-roads/">Super Cruise</a> (optional on every trim), which allows for almost effortless hands-free driving on more than 750,000 miles of North American highways. It even does automatic lane changes. The Acadia’s plush driver’s seat with Super Cruise on and the Bose audio system delivering your music or podcasts isn’t a bad way to eat up miles on the highway.
This might seem like a small thing, but the recently redesigned GMC Acadia remedied one of our biggest gripes with the previous generation. The frustrating, horizontally oriented gearshift buttons are gone, replaced with GM’s easy-to-use electric column shifter. It makes every drive that much more pleasant.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
According to <a href="https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/make.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EPA</a> estimates, the GMC Acadia’s only engine option returns 20 city/27 highway/23 combined mpg with front-wheel drive and 19 city/24 highway/21 combined mpg with all-wheel drive. These efficiency ratings are just okay for this class, especially with hybrids getting more popular.

Super Cruise 
GM’s hands-free driving system is among the best of its kind, and it’s optional on all three trims of the GMC Acadia. Super Cruise allows for relaxed, hands-free driving on over 750,000 miles of North American highways.
Rugged AT4 model 
In addition to standard all-wheel drive and a handsome appearance package, the Acadia AT4 comes with an off-road-tuned suspension system, hill descent control, all-terrain tires, and a little extra ride height.
Fancy Denali model 
The Denali name is synonymous with luxury in trucks and SUVs, and the Acadia Denali doesn’t disappoint. It has stylish Galvano Silver exterior trim, 20-inch wheels, a head-up display, and a premium leather interior with heated and ventilated front seats, plus power-folding third-row seats. It gets even fancier in the new Denali Ultimate trim.
Smart Slide seats 
These second-row seats can tilt and slide for easy access to the third row. We can confirm from experience that they work well even with child car seats installed.
15-inch touchscreen 
This customizable Google-based infotainment system has a 15-inch screen, Google Maps, voice control, and so much more. Other standard tech features include an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, Bose premium audio, and a wireless charging pad.
Drive modes 
In addition to the comfortable Tour mode, the GMC Acadia is available with Sport, Snow/Ice, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul drive modes, making it ready for just about anything.

Roomy Interior

The GMC Acadia’s interior upholds its brand’s reputation for blending rugged and luxurious. The front seats are comfortable, and the recent redesign made the technology more modern and intuitive. We like the 15-inch touchscreen display with Google built-in, so all of the familiar apps like Google Maps are at your fingertips. The Acadia gets especially nice in the Denali trim, which offers luxuries like diamond-stitched leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, open-pore wood trim, and a panoramic sunroof. Climb in the back, and the second row is almost as comfortable as the front, especially with the second-row captain’s chairs that are standard in the AT4 and Denali trims (optional in Elevation).
We’ve tested more than enough midsize 3-row SUVs to confirm that not all third-row seats are created equal. However, the way back of the GMC Acadia is one of the good ones. Third-row access is fairly easy when the car is equipped with Smart Slide seats. Once you’re back there, third-row accommodations are pretty good, with 32.1 inches of legroom, four cupholders, two USB-C ports, and two air vents. This third row is still more suitable for kids than adults, but it’s one of the roomier and more easily accessible seating arrangements in this class.
Another strength of the GMC Acadia is its cargo room. There are 23 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 57.3 cubic feet behind the second row, and 97.5 cubic feet behind the first row. That puts it up there with the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/grand-highlander/">Toyota Grand Highlander</a> and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/volkswagen/atlas/">Volkswagen Atlas</a> as one of the roomiest <a href="https://www.kbb.com/suv/best-mid-size-suvs/">midsize SUVs</a> available.
All of this to say that the GMC Acadia is one of the most ready and willing midsize SUVs to comfortably carry seven people and a load of groceries with little compromise.

The GMC brand has found a sweet spot in producing trucks and SUVs that fall somewhere between mainstream and luxury. The GMC Acadia is one such example: a midsize 3-row family SUV that’s a little more rugged and upscale than most of its rivals while remaining more affordable than similar SUVs from luxury brands. It makes a strong case as a practical family hauler with one of the biggest interiors in its class and excellent safety ratings. Meanwhile, the capable AT4 trim and fancy Denali model give the Acadia a unique personality that makes it stand out.

A turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder under the hood of the GMC Acadia makes 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque. This engine links to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is the default setup, with all-wheel drive available as an option or standard in the more off-road-focused AT4 variant. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, which is about average for the class.
<h3>3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
GMC’s new vehicle warranty lasts three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Powertrains are covered for five years or 60,000 miles, and roadside assistance is included. These are typical terms in the segment. The first scheduled maintenance visit is also free.
<h3>Safety</h3>
The GMC Acadia earned a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>). It’s also garnered the Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>) because of favorable crash-test results. Moreover, the Acadia provides a comprehensive array of standard safety features, including active blind spot assistance, Side Bicyclist Alert, and automatic emergency braking at intersections.

What's new for 2026

For 2026, the Denali Reserve package is discontinued and effectively replaced by the Denali Ultimate trim. It&#8217;s the new peak of luxury and tech in the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/results?vehicleIds=477692|477730|477685/">Acadia lineup</a>, with unique aesthetics inside and out, upgraded interior materials, and premium features like a panoramic sunroof, performance suspension, 22-inch wheels, and a Bose Performance Series 16-speaker audio system.
Also, the Acadia has two new paint options: Glacier White replaces White Frost, and Riverstone replaces Deep Bronze. Additionally, a new Key Card feature allows owners to use a card instead of a traditional key fob to lock, unlock, and start the car.

Despite its relative youth, the 2026 Genesis G90 is a strong player in the large luxury sedan class.

If any driver of a large luxury sedan (as opposed to any large luxury sedan driver) is really interested in blasting away as the lights turn green, the base G90 3.5T will accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in around 5.5 seconds, thanks to its turbocharged V6 generating 375 horsepower. For comparison, an equivalent BMW 740i xDrive has the same number of horses, but will gallop to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Or the Mercedes-Benz S 500 4Matic flexes 442 hp and hits 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. The extra thrust of the 409-hp G90 3.5T E-SC shaves about a tenth of a second from its stablemate’s acceleration time.
Not that this kind of metric is really crucial among large luxury sedans. As long as there’s enough muscle to back up their car’s prestigious presence, then most owners should be happy. We’ve never been unhappy with the G90’s gumption. What’s more, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/reviews/experiencing-the-2025-genesis-g90/">the serene cabin and unflustered ride quality have been positively mood-lifting</a>.
The “entry-level” G90 has an adaptive suspension with a camera that reads the road ahead and then adjusts itself within milliseconds to suit. The supercharged G90 enjoys a super-smooth air suspension. Rear-wheel steering comes with the supercharged engine, giving this big car a surprising and enjoyable dash of athleticism. It also helps when maneuvering in tight spots.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The base 3.5T engine achieves 21 mpg in combined city/highway driving. The electric supercharger and the mild-hybrid setup of the 3.5T E-SC MHEV version results in 20 mpg combined. This isn’t competitive. For example, base versions of the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class run to 27 mpg combined and 24 mpg combined, respectively.

Desirable Exterior

“I want this car” was pretty much the standard reaction of our friends and family members whenever they saw the G90. We get it. There’s no design weirdness or conservative blandness, just a well-executed flagship sedan with the right looks to accompany its classy status.
The new-for-2026 Prestige Black version is available in black, or (perhaps less predictably) white. The details that come with it (all in black) are things like the grille, Genesis badges, 21-inch alloy wheels (with floating center caps), and the brake calipers.

Luxurious seating 
The G90’s front seats are supremely comfortable, and we think the rear seats are just as good. Nappa leather upholstery is standard, while the upper trim adds heated/ventilated/massaging/reclining rear seats — plus a rear center console with touchscreen controls and a wireless charging pad.
Bang &amp; Olufsen audio 
We’ve found that the top 23-speaker/1,400-watt surround-sound array excels at reproducing many different types of music. It even has settings like Boston Symphony Hall to give listeners the feeling that they’re in real-life concert venues. The base G90 has a great B&amp;O system as well.
Powered doors 
They don’t just close softly, they also open with the press of a button. One particular detail we really like is how the driver’s door closes automatically once the driver climbs in and steps on the brake pedal. The supercharged model has this as standard.
Genesis Digital Key 2 
This feature turns an iPhone, Apple Watch, or Samsung smartphone into a key through Apple Wallet and Samsung Pass. We found it wonderfully convenient that — in addition to locking, unlocking, and starting the G90 — this function recognizes the driver and loads customized vehicle preferences accordingly.
Highway Driving Assist 2 
Adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and road sign recognition combine in this standard feature to alleviate the grind of long freeway stretches. Like a lot of the driver assistance technology in Genesis vehicles, we’ve found it to be among the best out there.
3.5T E-SC 
Boosting the base engine by 34 hp and 14 lb-ft of torque with an electric supercharger might sound like a lot of effort for not much reward, but we’re fans of this engine’s easy and responsive power delivery.

High-Caliber Interior

Smart design, fine materials, abundant tech, and superb comfort all go toward consolidating the 2026 <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/genesis-shows-off-super-luxe-g90-interior/">G90’s high ranking</a> in the already lofty large luxury sedan class.
The new Prestige Black version is a rich Goth’s fantasy car — with black Nappa leather, “Black Ash” wood trim, anodized black speaker grilles, bespoke key fobs, plus black controls and vents.
Accommodations in the second row are appropriately swish, offering power-adjustable and reclining rear seats that are also heated and ventilated while offering a massage function and an extendable footrest for the passenger-side seat. Add wireless charging and beautifully cushioned headrests covered in a suede-like material, and it is among the poshest second rows on the market. Rear legroom measures 37.8 inches, which we’ve found is plenty for adults of average size. If anyone needs greater space, they can check out the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class — all with more than 40 inches of rear legroom.

We like the Genesis G90 almost more than any other car of its kind. We say “almost” because there’s a tie at the top of <a href="https://www.kbb.com/cars/best-luxury-full-size-cars/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">our full-size luxury car rankings</a>, with the G90 and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sharing the accolade. It’s not like the rest of the cars in this class are that far behind, however, because these are some of the most impressive conveyances in the world.
They all have superb tech and lavish comfort features. And the G90 is not just a great large luxury sedan by a new(ish) company — it would be a fine example of the genre no matter who built it. That’s why it has equal billing with the S-Class, that giant of the luxury sector.

Buyers in the market for this kind of car generally want the top version and can afford to pay the extra money, so we’re happy to recommend the 3.5T E-SC model and leave it to personal choice regarding cosmetics.

The 2026 G90 starts out with a perfectly fine twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 making a correspondingly acceptable 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. This links to a standard all-wheel drive system through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The more muscular optional configuration keeps the turbochargers, then adds an <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/2023-genesis-g90-gets-supercharged-hybrid-model/">electric supercharger</a>, boosting output to 409 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. It also brings more mild-hybrid hardware to make the fuel-saving engine stop/restart action appropriately smooth for a flagship sedan.
<h3>5-Year/60,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
The new-vehicle warranty from Genesis lasts five years or 60,000 miles, whichever happens first, with roadside assistance for five years at unlimited mileage. The powertrain is covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. These terms are among the best in the automotive industry. Genesis also includes three years or 36,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance.

The 2025 G90 has received the second-highest honor of Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>). Standard safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping/lane-following assistance, and a 360-degree camera system.

A Prestige Black version comes along to top the range this year. Based on the variant with the most powerful engine, this treatment is cosmetic, with additions and changes both inside and out.
