Driving Impressions

The LC 500 is energized by a 471-horsepower V8. Sprinting from standstill to 60 mph happens in an impressive 4.4 seconds, and the engine sounds glorious in the process — yet never obnoxious. To compare, the BMW 840i Coupe with a 335-hp 6-cylinder engine is 0.3 of a second slower.
As a grand tourer rather than a true driver’s machine (like a <a href="https://www.kbb.com/porsche/911/">Porsche 911</a>), we’ve found that the LC definitely has its own fine qualities. It’s based on the same platform as the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/lexus/ls/">LS</a> flagship luxury sedan, after all. The LC is reassuringly stable at high speeds. And the standard brake-based torque vectoring, where the inside rear wheel goes around a corner slower than its outside counterpart, helps the car stay tidy in the curves.
We think the car’s heft (both variants weigh over 4,000 pounds) tends to discourage more aggressive driving. For journeys through scenic areas, however, the LC can be a perfect companion. The comprehensive array of standard safety features, meanwhile, is both confidence-inspiring and helpful on freeways and in cities alike.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
Regardless of body style, the LC 500 achieves 18 mpg in combined city/highway driving. There isn’t a direct BMW 8 Series rival to compare. For example, the 840i is rated at 24 mpg combined, but is less powerful than the LC 500. The BMW M850i xDrive gets 19 mpg combined, yet has 523 horses and all-wheel drive as standard.

Two Body Styles

Exterior

It might just be that 2-door cars invariably look a bit special. Or perhaps the Lexus design philosophy has found its perfect vehicle of expression in the 2026 LC. It’s available as a coupe with a fixed metal roof or a convertible with a power-operated soft-top (which takes only about 15 seconds to open or close, and can do so at speeds up to 31 mph). The coupe’s roof doesn’t have to be all-metal. The alternatives are glass or carbon fiber.
The Inspiration Series introduces Smoke Gray Matte for the coupe and the light gray Wind finish for the convertible. There’s also some blacked-out exterior accents.

One of a few options, but worth having, in our opinion. This 13-speaker, 915-watt surround-sound system was developed especially for the LC. It even knows when the convertible’s roof is down and recalibrates its settings accordingly.
Dynamic Handling package
Even though the LC is not a precision sports machine like some Porsches, we would still say this options bundle is worth considering. As well as a limited-slip differential and a sportier rear suspension, it also includes rear-wheel steering and variable-ratio steering — both of which enhance the driving experience at high speed and maneuverability at low speed.
Head-up display
Projecting information onto the windshield means the driver’s eyes don’t have to stray from the road ahead to pick up crucial information. We also think this optional feature seems fighter-pilot cool.

Plush Interior

It’s a Lexus, so the 2026 LC is predictably brimful of quality materials put together with wonderful attention to detail and a high degree of craftsmanship. The dashboard houses an analog clock, the driver’s footwell has aluminum pedals, and the passenger side of the center console morphs into a grab handle.
Space is plentiful up front, although the two rear seats are better for weekend bags than they are for humans, especially since the trunk’s volume is only 5.4 cubic feet at best. The LC 500 convertible has only 3.4 cubic feet — barely enough for one set of golf clubs.
A Bespoke Build program applies to both coupe and convertible models, with a blue/white color scheme exclusive to the convertible. This year&#8217;s Inspiration Series brings center console badges, plus white/black decor for the coupe’s cabin, or Saddle Tan/White semi-aniline leather in the convertible.

One of the few constants in life is, ironically, the fact that nothing remains constant. That applies to the automotive world as much as anything else. Even so, we’re glad to see the Lexus LC luxury coupe and convertible cars remain in production for another year.
Based on the same platform as the LS large luxury sedan, the LC embodies refinement and exquisite taste. It’s not the ultimate driver’s car, but that’s hardly the LC’s mission. Instead, it excels as a glorious way of driving to wonderful locations. Or maybe just the mall. It also has those typical <a href="https://www.kbb.com/lexus/">Lexus</a> attributes that somehow seem to be other constants in this uncertain world — like reliability, build quality, and a more-than-bearable dealer experience.

Pricing - Static

A couple of alternatives are the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/mercedes-amg-sl/">Mercedes-AMG SL</a>, starting higher than the priciest LC. Or the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/8-series/2025/">BMW 8 Series</a>, which comes in below the LC — although with less power. Of course, the opportunity is there to spend much more on these German rivals to acquire higher levels of equipment and muscle.
Before buying a new LC luxury coupe or convertible, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying. Resale values may not be a major consideration at this level, but the LC performs respectably here. The LC 500 coupe and convertible employ a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 developing 471 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. This goes solely to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty
The Lexus new-vehicle warranty of four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first, is usual for the luxury sector. The 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty is a little better than most. The first two scheduled services (six months/5,000 miles and 12 months/10,000 miles) are also free.
Safety
The LC hasn’t been crash-tested by any independent agencies in the United States, but in light of the usual Lexus build quality and safety features, we don’t think this should deter any potential buyers. Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian/cyclist detection, intersection assistance, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

What's new for

Lexus has a limited run of Inspiration Series LC 500 cars for North America, with 200 coupes and 350 convertibles. The coupe comes in Smoke Matte Gray, while the soft-top has a light gray Wind finish. Both hues are new to the LC lineup. The hybrid version of the coupe (the LC 500h) <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/lexus-keeps-the-lc-model-for-2026-but-kills-the-hybrid/">has been discontinued</a>, and we aren’t expecting the LC in general to last much longer.

Power, Ride, and Handling

It seems physically impossible for a 9,000-plus-pound truck to be able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just over three seconds. Yet that’s what the Hummer EV Pickup can do with the tri-motor powertrain in the 3X and the Watts to Freedom launch system. That makes driving this truck thrilling. The Hummer EV is also surprisingly agile, thanks to its standard 4-wheel steering. The less powerful dual-motor 2X should provide more than enough power for most drivers. We are fans of one-pedal driving provided by some EVs, including the Hummer EV Pickup.
Yes, it’s large, but the Hummer EV Pickup is not as intimidating to drive as you might think. Behind the wheel, it feels smooth and comfortable, like an upscale full-size truck. It manages all that power and torque quite nicely, as the power is easy to modulate. But the Hummer EV Pickup is heavy, which you don’t feel as much while driving or regular cornering. Be ready to brake early when bringing it to a stop. That’s a handy tip when driving any heavy vehicle.
The Hummer is very well-equipped for the dirt, but the optional Extreme Off-Road Package takes it up a notch. This option bundle includes 35-inch mud terrain tires, front and rear e-lockers, full skid plates, front and rear UltraVision cameras, and more. The result is a truck that can handle just about any terrain.

Eye-Catching Exterior

Rugged and imposing, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup looks every bit like an heir to both the military Hummer and the Hummer H2, but more streamlined and futuristic. Its unique style makes it stand out among the other electric trucks, as well as everything else on the road. The fun Easter eggs continue on the exterior. An “H” logo is hidden in the taillights and rear tailgate brake light, there’s an “HEV” logo on the wheels, and there are American flags on the C-pillars. Fans of the 6-function MultiPro tailgate that’s available on the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/GMC/sierra/">GMC Sierra</a> will be happy to know it comes standard on the Hummer EV Pickup. In addition, the rear window slides down, making it easy to carry long, wide cargo. You can remove the optional Infinity Roof&#8217;s Transparent Sky Panels, put down the rear and side windows, and enjoy open-air driving.

Super Cruise 
The standard Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system allows hands-free driving that will soon cover <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/gms-super-cruise-now-covers-750000-miles-of-roads/">750,000 miles of highway</a> in North America.
Agile steering 
The standard CrabWalk system uses 4-wheel steering to make it easier to maneuver around obstacles on the trail. On the road, that 4-wheel steering also gives the Hummer EV Pickup a turning radius similar to that of a <a href="https://www.kbb.com/honda/civic/">Honda Civi</a>c.
Watts to Freedom 
Buckle up; the available Watts to Freedom feature launches this electric truck from zero to 60 mph in about three seconds.
UltraVision 
The UltraVision system employs up to 18 camera views to see everything around you — and even under you — for parking and off-roading.
MultiPro tailgate 
The MultiPro tailgate has six different modes. This flexible tailgate can function as a load stop, steps, or even a desk.

Space-Age Interior

One of the big payoffs with a truck this size is a spacious cabin. The front row has some of the best headroom and legroom you can find in a truck, while the rear row is slightly less accommodating. The seats are plenty comfy, too. The interior of the Hummer EV Pickup is a pleasant, roomy setting. GM has had a decades-long history of working on moon rovers for NASA; Easter egg design cues in the cabin make reference to the moon landing and the Sea of Tranquility.
User-friendly technology is one of the other strong suits of the Hummer EV Pickup. Its 13.4-inch main touchscreen has separate buttons to control the various audio, climate, and truck controls. Many of the tech and off-road controls are accessed through the screen itself. We like the customizable digital gauge cluster and the Google-powered infotainment system. There are plenty of clever storage spaces inside. And outward visibility is quite good.

Like its gas- (or diesel) powered predecessors, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is a terrific, powerful off-road machine that cuts a large figure. However, the modern Hummer EV pickup is all-electric and full of the latest tech. It’s also quick on its feet and more comfortable than the Hummer models of the 1990s and 2000s. It has impressive features like GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system. And it does all of this with nearly 320 miles of range and zero tailpipe emissions. The powertrain may be different, but the GMC Hummer EV stays true to the Hummer name and legacy. There’s also a <a href="https://www.kbb.com/gmc/hummer-ev-suv/">Hummer EV SUV</a>, which is reviewed separately.
We’ve tested all the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/electric-car/best-electric-trucks/">electric trucks</a> on sale today, including the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

No matter which of the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/results?vehicleIds=471257|471290/">two Hummer EV trims</a> you choose, it’s pricier than competitors like the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/Ford/f-150-lightning/">Ford F-150 Lightning</a>, <a href="https://www.kbb.com/chevrolet/silverado-ev/">Chevy Silverado EV</a>, or the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/rivian/r1t/">Rivian R1T</a>. The primary difference between the 2X and 3X trims is the motor count with a boost in horsepower and torque. If we were shopping for the Hummer EV, we might stick with the 2X trim and put that $8,000 difference toward some cool options like the Extreme Off-Road Package or the Lifestyle Adventure Package, which includes a rooftop tent.

Among full-size electric pickup trucks, only the Rivian R1T holds its value better than the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. Battery Power and Range

The 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup comes with a choice of two potent powertrains. The 2X uses a dual-motor setup with 570 horsepower, and the tri-motor 3X has 1,000 hp. GMC&#8217;s estimates put torque at 7,400 lb-ft for the 2X and 11,500 lb-ft in the 3X when factoring in the Watts to Freedom feature.
Without any optional features, the 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup has an EPA-rated range of 318 miles. That&#8217;s achieved in the 2X. However, GMC also offers a 24-module battery pack ($9,995) for the 3X trim that increases the maximum range to a GM-estimated 367 miles. Those are impressive numbers for such a massive vehicle. With a Level 3 DC fast charger, GM says you can add an estimated 100 miles of range in 12 minutes under optimal conditions. Using a Level 2 charger with a 240-volt power source takes just over 16 hours to go from 20% to 100%.
In Pickup and SUV forms, the GMC Hummer EV is about the least-efficient electric vehicle on the market. With EPA efficiency figures hovering around 53 MPGe combined, it uses more than twice as much electricity to cover the same distance as something like the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/hyundai/ioniq-5/">Hyundai Ioniq 5</a>, for instance. Even the Ford F-150 Lightning is as much as 40% more efficient than the Hummer EV. The 24-module, extended-range battery is necessarily massive, providing 212 kWh of storage. You can find more Hummer EV efficiency information on the <a href="https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/make.shtml">EPA’s website.</a>
<h3>Towing and Hauling</h3>
The Hummer EV Pickup can tow up to 12,000 pounds, depending on the trim. It has a 5-foot bed and a max payload capacity of 1,485 pounds. For reference, the Ford F-150 Lightning is rated to tow 10,000 pounds and haul 2,000 pounds.
<h3>3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
GMC provides bumper-to-bumper limited warranty coverage for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Powertrain components are covered for five years or 60,000 miles, and the EV battery is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. This is the same as the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevy Silverado EV.
<h3>Safety Ratings</h3>
Neither the government nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has crash/safety tested the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. However, it does come with a robust bundle of advanced driver-assist and safety technology. Included are automatic emergency front/rear braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and more.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup receives no major changes for 2025. Two new colors, Graphite Blue Metallic and Solar Orange, join the paint offerings. Supernova Metallic, Tide Metallic, and Afterburner Metallic leave.

The 2026 Acura Integra is a tempting contender among compact luxury cars for its fun, financial sense, reliability, and practicality.

Most versions of the Integra have a 200-horsepower engine, with the ability to accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in around seven seconds. The Integra’s German rivals are about one second quicker. In an ideal world, we’d prefer an engine with a bit more thrust and a faster response from the turbocharger.
Although the Integra has a lively, sport-tuned suspension as standard, we still find it comfortable enough on the highway, even if the cabin gets a bit noisy for a premium car. The variable-ratio steering keeps things stable, with a slow reaction on center, then becoming faster the more it’s turned. Superb for sharp changes of direction on twisting roads. Overall, we think the Integra is an effective and enjoyable package.
Take that last verdict and turn up the volume for the 320-hp Integra Type S, which will hit 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. It has a wider track for greater stability, adaptive dampers in the suspension, and is wonderfully responsive without being twitchy. We also love the thrilling exhaust sound from that triple-pipe system in Sport Plus mode. <a href="https://www.kbb.com/reviews/experiencing-the-2025-acura-integra-type-s/">We consider the Integra Type S to be a more mature version of the Honda Civic Type R hot hatch</a>.
There’s one feature in the Type S that’s particularly appealing: a 6-speed manual transmission. <a href="https://www.kbb.com/acura/">Acura</a> doesn’t even offer an automatic option with this variant, yet it also offers the manual in the Integra A-Spec w/Technology version. It’s a delight to use — quick and precise.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The Integra returns decent fuel economy. The base model with the 200-hp engine achieves 33 mpg in combined city/highway driving. That’s 5 mpg better than the Audi A3 (which, admittedly, has all-wheel drive as standard) and 3 mpg better than the BMW 228 xDrive Gran Coupe (also with all-wheel drive).

Sleek, swept-back headlights complement a similar design for the Integra’s taillights. The bold 5-point Acura grille, meanwhile, looks even more pronounced when fitted to a compact car. In a nod to the OG Integra, the car’s name is molded into the front and rear bumpers.
Styling becomes more assertive with the A-Spec package, adding a lip spoiler, various exterior details finished in gloss black, and black 18-inch alloy wheels. The Type S has its own body kit that includes a bespoke front fascia to improve airflow, a functional hood scoop, and wider wheel arches to accommodate bigger tires than the rest of the Integra lineup.
New colors this year are Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, and Double Apex Blue Pearl. Acura also offers the choice of a color-matched grille for certain colors. We have to be honest here and say that this feature hasn’t gone down so well among our testing team. One observation was: “There’s something Regis Philbin matching shirt and tie about it.” We’re sure some people will like it.

Acura Precision Cockpit
A 10.2-inch digital driver information display is standard in every Integra. We’ve found it to be logical and user-friendly.
Manual transmission
The 6-speed manual transmission (available in higher trims) evokes the glory days of older Integra models and allows drivers to get the most out of either engine. Although we recognize its limited appeal, real driving enthusiasts will be intrigued.
Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration
This becomes standard equipment across the 2026 lineup, along with wireless charging. The Integra also offers Wi-Fi and Amazon Alexa compatibility.
Smart Entry with Walk-Away Lock
No need to search pockets or purses for the car keys — the Integra senses the fob’s proximity to unlock. We also like that the system works the other way, locking the car when the fob retreats past a certain distance.
A-Spec with Technology package
Not everyone will go for the sportiest and priciest Integra Type S, but some may still want a driver’s edge with a touch of luxury. This choice offers an adaptive suspension and all the tech the Integra offers.
ELS audio
We love a good sound system, and the 16-speaker ELS setup in the pricier Integra models qualifies. It was developed by Grammy-winning engineer/producer Elliot Scheiner. Think of virtually any big name in music, and there’s a good chance Scheiner has been behind the mixing desk with them at some point.

Refined, Flexible Interior

The Integra’s cabin impresses with attention to detail appropriate for a premium sedan without going overboard in styling and high-tech gadgetry. We applaud Acura’s decision to retain physical switches and knobs for things like climate control and not bury them in the touchscreen. The controls have a high-quality look and feel, augmented by subtle design touches like the honeycomb mesh grilles for the vents. We’ve also enjoyed the Integra’s front seats, which are both comfortable and supportive.
Thin pillars enhance outward vision, and rear side airbags are standard in the Integra. One of the most distinctive features, though, is the liftback section. The rear seats split and fold in the usual 60/40 manner, creating a flat load space and bringing flexibility for carrying cargo or passengers. And while rear legroom is more than generous at 37.4 inches, rear headroom of just 36.4 inches won’t be so popular with taller passengers.
The 5-door liftback design of the Acura Integra blends style with practicality. It’s more interesting than a regular sedan and another nod to Integra models of the past. With the rear seats up, there’s 24.3 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold them down and the Integra becomes almost SUV-like — we could fit a mountain bike in the back. However, the rear opening’s high lip may make loading heavy items a bit cumbersome.
The A-Spec package brings red needles for the gauges, stainless steel pedals, plus contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats, and shift gaiter. The Technology package enlivens the standard simulated leather for the seating surfaces with inserts of simulated suede.
The infotainment system now has a standard 9-inch touchscreen, while ambient lighting makes it into the A-Spec models. For an immersive audio experience, two of the 16 speakers in the ELS Studio sound system (part of the Technology package, or standard in the Type S) are located above the front occupants.

The Integra can be that first toe into the luxury car waters. It won’t scare off buyers with torrid tales of depreciation and maintenance costs. And the reputation for reliability that <a href="http://www.kbb.com/acura/">Acura</a> has always enjoyed remains intact, even in this compact luxury car built on the same foundation as the (actually quite excellent) Honda Civic. The Integra is enjoyable to drive and surprisingly practical, and should stay that way after many miles.

The main engine in the 2026 Integra lineup is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder unit making a just-about-adequate 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. This goes solely to the front wheels through an automatic transmission — or, in the case of the A-Spec w/Technology Package, an optional 6-speed manual gearbox. Either way, there’s no provision for all-wheel drive in any Integra.
That includes the Integra Type S, which employs a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine developing 320 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. This impressive output makes it one of the most powerful production engines of its kind. The Type S comes exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. A helical limited-slip front differential keeps torque steer in check.
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
The new-vehicle warranty on a 2026 Integra compact luxury car lasts four years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Powertrain coverage is for six years or 70,000 miles. Complimentary scheduled maintenance over the first two years or 24,000 miles is also included.
<h3>Safety Ratings</h3>
The Integra has earned the second-highest accolade of Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>). It also earned a maximum 5-Star overall score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>). Standard safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

What used to be the optional 9-inch infotainment touchscreen is now standard equipment, joined by wireless phone integration and wireless charging. A-Spec versions gain a new body kit, black-finished 18-inch alloy wheels, and ambient interior lighting. And three more paint choices become available, plus the option of a color-matched grille.

The new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid brings even better fuel efficiency to an already affordable, capable, and practical package.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is powered by a hybrid 4-cylinder powertrain with a total output of 194 horsepower, which is a little more power than the sole engine option in the non-hybrid Crosstrek. A CVT automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD) are standard across the board.
We are fans of the current Crosstrek suspension. We like the way it handles rougher pavement and even unpaved surfaces. The Crosstrek’s steering is sharp and responsive.
Once considered quirky for its all-wheel drive, Subaru has had decades of experience powering all the wheels. The Subaru Symmetrical AWD system is transparent, constantly adjusting the amount of torque to the wheels. Switching to X-Mode provides some extra all-wheel-drive response. It still doesn’t allow this SUV to tackle the most severe terrain, but it improves typical off-road experiences.
We have been impressed with its seamless reaction and relentless forward motion when driving it on dirt paths in hilly terrain. The Crosstrek’s hill-descent control — sort of slow-speed cruise control — is another bright spot. We found it tremendously effective, freeing our focus to steer.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
Neither Subaru nor the government has published estimated fuel economy numbers for the Crosstrek Hybrid. The traditional Crosstrek delivers an estimated 29 mpg in mixed city-and-highway driving. Which is good for an all-wheel-drive subcompact SUV. We expect the Crosstrek Hybrid to improve on that number.

Familiar Wrapper

In a parking lot, at an intersection, or pounding down a dirt trail, there is no mistaking the Crosstrek for anything else, even at a distance. Although the details have evolved, the Crosstrek’s basic shape and design theme remain warmly familiar.

Standard all-wheel drive 
Subaru’s standard symmetrical all-wheel-drive system is among the most sophisticated and capable in the segment. We find it is more than eager to tackle dirt and gravel trails.
8.7 inches of ground clearance 
We argue that a key contributor to the Crosstrek’s off-road superiority is its class-leading ground clearance.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 
Smartphone integration is even better when the connection happens automatically. In our experience, seamless connecting and no cables cluttering the center console are reasons enough to insist on wireless smartphone interfacing. Wireless phone charging is also available.
Large touchscreen 
Both Crosstrek Hybrid trims feature an interior-dominating, vertically oriented 11.6-inch touchscreen and robust infotainment offering. Navigation is also included. This is in addition to the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
EyeSight driver assists 
Every Crosstrek features the latest version of Subaru’s EyeSight collection of driver assistance and safety technologies. It includes some of our must-have tech, such as automatic emergency braking and steering, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, and automatic high beams.
Steering Responsive LED Headlights 
The Crosstrek’s headlights turn in relation to the wheels, helping you see further into a corner. We&#8217;ve found this feature surprisingly helpful when navigating dark roads or turning into dark driveways.

Practical Interior

We are in awe of just how quiet the cabin of the current Crosstrek is because previous generations wore their coarseness like a badge of honor. Those familiar with Crosstrek over the years should be equally surprised by the hush and pliant ride of today’s model.
Enhancing the cabin’s upgraded experience are the comfy front seats with loads of padding to absorb the abuse of going off pavement. There is still plenty of plastic haunting this roomy space, but, on the other hand, it does make it easier to wipe down. At 54.7 cubic feet and 36.5 inches, respectively, total cargo room and rear seat legroom are about average for the segment.

Making the Crosstrek even more fuel efficient, Subaru introduces the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. Taking what is already a highly popular subcompact SUV among those desiring an off-road ready, practical people mover and making it even more attractive by squeezing out additional fuel economy, Subaru is demonstrating some crafty marketing. We were already Crosstrek fans and the hybrid powertrain only increases our enthusiasm.

With only $1,000 separating the two trims, we can’t imagine that the Limited Hybrid won’t be the better selling of the two. It’s certainly a better value because it adds faux leather seating with orange stitching, a 10-speaker Harmon Kardon 432-watt audio system, more driver-assistance tech like blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency steering, and more.
The Crosstrek Hybrid is pricier than class rivals because the base hybrid trim is midway up the traditional Crosstrek’s trim ladder. In other words, even the entry-level Sport Hybrid trim is packed with standard fare.

<h3>Impressive Resale Value</h3>
Obviously, the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is untested in the resale market. We would be disingenuous to praise what are, in essence, estimated resale values. However, the traditional Crosstrek excels in retaining its value. We can’t imagine that the Crosstrek Hybrid won’t have resale values that, at the very least, are higher than average for the class.

Crosstrek’s hybrid powertrain consists of an Atkinson/Miller-cycle 2.5-liter boxer engine, electric motors, and a high-capacity lithium-ion battery. It develops 194 hp. The &#8220;boxer&#8221; or flat engine is a Subaru trait, referring to the cylinders being horizontally opposed rather than arranged vertically in a line or opposed in a V-shape. The advantage is a lower center of gravity, which enhances stability.
Every Crosstrek comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), which uses belts and pulleys rather than gears. It does help stretch fuel. Subaru has evolved its CVT to soften the artificial shift points.
3-year/36,000-mile Warranty
Subaru offers a 3-year/36,000-mile basic bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain protection, which is comparable to other mainstream automakers.
Safety
In safety and crash testing, the Crosstrek earned the <a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings">National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s</a> (NHTSA) highest overall score of 5-Star. It struggled with the two new tests performed by the <a href="https://www.iihs.org/ratings/">Insurance Institute for Highway Safety</a> (IIHS); however, this same generation had previously been included in the IIHS list of its Top Safety Pick (TSP) models.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is officially a new model; although, the combustion Crosstrek, which we review separately, has been with us since 2016. In addition to the all-new hybrid powertrain, the Crosstrek Hybrid will get a few features unavailable for the traditional Crosstrek. For example, a 12.3-inch digital display cluster and unique 18-inch wheels are standard on the Crosstrek Hybrid. Moreover, the Crosstrek Hybrid will offer two paint colors (Sane Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl) not available on the traditional Crosstrek.

In testing the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/2024-subaru-crosstrek-wilderness-can-really-get-you-there/">Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness</a> model in Utah, we were surprised and delighted at how scrappy this most off-road-centric trim is. Its extra ground clearance, improved approach and departure angles, and enhanced off-road hardware and software enabled this model to eat up miles and miles of single-track dirt roads with ease. Moreover, it effortlessly ascended and descended technical dirt trails that might leave competitors in pieces. It also boasts a sophisticated dual-mode X-Mode feature with settings for dirt, deep snow, and mud. The Crosstrek Wilderness can tow up to 3,500 pounds — 2,000 more than the other trims.
Fuel Economy
The Crosstrek delivers an <a href="https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/make.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EPA</a>-estimated 29 mpg in mixed city/highway driving. Despite its standard all-wheel drive, this number is about average for the segment populated primarily with entry-level front-wheel-drive rivals. It betters the Ford Bronco Sport&#8217;s 27 mpg and matches the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mazda/cx-30/">Mazda CX-30</a>, both of which also boast standard all-wheel drive.

Standing out from the rest of the Crosstrek lineup, the Wilderness grade proffers a more distinct, rugged appearance. Additional ground clearance, aggressive cladding with &#8220;SUBARU&#8221; lettering on the back, yellow accents, and 17-inch black wheels spotlight the styling enhancements.
