Summary: At this year’s NAIAS, BYD introduced the world’s first mass-produced plug-in electric vehicle the BYD F3DM already being sold in China. Also shown was the larger F6DM which is slated to go on sale next year in China and possibly in Europe and North America sometime thereafter. The F6DM is said to travel up to 62 miles under pure electric power after which a gasoline engine kicks in to generate electricity, extending the total range to around 270 miles.
