The 2022 Mazda CX-30 is a subcompact SUV that might think it’s a hatchback sports car. Stylishly put together inside and out, it seats five and is quite athletic to boot. Engine choices range from a naturally aspirated 186-horsepower inline-four-cylinder engine to an available turbocharged inline-four-cylinder that kicks it up to 250 horsepower. The CX-30 is available with either front- or all-wheel drive.
The base CX-30 2.5 S starts at $23,225 including a $1,175 destination fee. It offers seating for five, that choice of 4-cylinder engines with a 6-speed automatic, and adaptive cruise control. Inside is standard black cloth seating with an 8-speaker Mazda Harmonic Acoustics audio system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth streaming, and two USB ports. In other words, the base model is fairly well-equipped.
The top-shelf Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus pushes the envelope even further. Starting at $35,225, including destination fee, it features the turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-4 and all-wheel drive with off-road traction assist. A Bose 12-speaker audio system provides in-car entertainment while various packages such as navigation and roof racks bring added convenience to the build sheet. Other options help personalize your CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus, but the added features below will push the price over $37,190.

Here’s a look at some of the included content:
SkyActiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine
Big things come in small packages and this SkyActiv-G 2.5 turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is no exception. It’s one of the breeds of engines offering varying levels of power depending on the octane of your fuel. In this case, 87 octane provides 227 horsepower, but stepping up to 93 octane increases it by 23 to 250 horsepower. Torque remains at 320 lb-ft regardless of fuel. This package ticks off a 0-to-60-mph time of 5.8 seconds. This engine carries an EPA estimate of 22 city/30 highway mpg.
I-Activ Drive Dynamics
The standard i-Activ all-wheel-drive system features off-road traction assist to help expand the capabilities of the CX-30 from the streets to the trails. The CX-30 also includes standard G-Vectoring Control Plus that shifts weight around on the vehicle, improving handling while entering and exiting a turn. When used with the AWD system, it decouples from the rear wheels momentarily while turning until the car straightens out once again.
Advanced Technology
While many of the advanced technology features are optional on the lower levels of the Mazda CX-30, the CX-30 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus goes all-in with the following: Windshield-projected Active Driving (head-up) display, traffic sign recognition, adaptive front lighting system, a new 360-degree view monitor with high-definition digital clarity, Smart City brake support reverse, rear cross-traffic braking, the standard i-Activesense safety suite, and traffic jam assist, which provides steering inputs at speeds under 40 mph.
In-Car Electronics
The Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus includes more features than even the Turbo Premium Package because, well, it’s a Plus. In addition to the standard 8.8-inch-display-screen Bose 12-speaker Premium audio system and Mazda Navigation with 3-year traffic and travel link updates, there’s SiriusXM satellite radio with a 3-month trial. It also includes an auto-dimming driver’s side door mirror, Traffic Jam Assist, Homelink, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree view monitor, and Smart City brake support with rear cross-traffic alert.
