What do You Get on a Fully Loaded 2022 Honda HR-V?

2020 Honda HR-V

The 2022 Honda HR-V is the brand’s smallest SUV and a popular choice in its segment. Compared to other subcompact SUVs, the HR-V boasts an exceptionally roomy and versatile interior, particularly in its rear-seat space and cargo-carrying ability. Of course, it also enjoys Honda’s reputation for reliability and strong resale value.

The HR-V is Honda’s most affordable SUV, and as such, it might be one where buyers are tempted to get a fully loaded model. Here’s what you get.

All HR-Vs use the same engine and transmission setup: a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder good for 141 horsepower, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard on all models. Upgrading to all-wheel drive costs $1,500 as well as a few miles per gallon at the pump. The EPA estimates for the top trim with AWD are 26 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, vs. 28 mpg city/34 mpg highway for a front-wheel-drive model.

There are four trim levels: LX ($21,420 plus the $1,225 destination charge), Sport ($23,370), EX ($24,620), and EX-L ($26,220). Even the base model comes with Bluetooth, the multi-folding second-row Magic Seat, and a roofline spoiler.

The HR-V Sport adds a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, shift paddles for the transmission, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and roof rails. The EX brings heated front seats, forward-collision warning with automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, Honda’s LaneWatch blind-spot view monitor, adaptive cruise control, passive entry with push-button start, fog lights, a power sunroof, and a 180-watt audio system with six speakers.

Fully Loaded

The EX comes with a long list of features, but the top-of-the-line fully loaded HR-V EX-L includes all of the foregoing items plus one more. For a $1,600 premium over the EX, the EX-L exclusively comes with leather-trimmed seats instead of cloth.

There are only a few options beyond the aforementioned all-wheel drive. There are four standard colors and two that cost extra: Platinum White Pearl and Midnight Amethyst Metallic, each $395. The EX-L comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, but there’s an alternate-style machine-finished 17-inch wheel for $1,386 or 18-inch wheels available for $2,572.

Add those, and you’re looking at $30,687 (plus $1,225 destination charge) for a fully loaded 2022 HR-V EX-L. Beyond that, there are dealer-installed accessories and packages, ranging in price from $295 to $1,638. The least expensive is a basic Protection Package with splash guards, wheel locks, and a cargo tray. The priciest is a Premium Rugged Package that features front, side, and rear exterior trim; roof crossbars; a rear bumper protector; and a rear seatback protector.

Infotainment System

Sport and higher trims benefit from the larger 7-inch touchscreen. The system includes a conventional volume knob as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, HondaLink services, an SMS text message function, and Pandora compatibility.

Honda LaneWatch

Honda’s LaneWatch helps with the blind spot on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. When the driver signals a right turn, a camera aimed rearward along the right side of the car projects a view of the blind spot onto the center display. Besides showing a vehicle in the adjoining lane, the system also is useful for showing a cyclist coming up alongside when you’re about to make a right turn.

Magic Seat

A key to the HR-V’s versatility is the multi-folding second-row Magic Seat. In addition to the seatback folding nearly flat to make for a bigger cargo hold, the cushion also flips up, leaving the rear seat area open to carry taller items like a plant. Additionally, the front passenger seat folds back so you can carry long items.
