Volvo recalled 1,119 EX90 SUVs from model year 2025 because their tailgates can suddenly fall while open. A collapsing tailgate could hit anyone beneath it.
The company tells federal safety officials that a supplier may have provided aluminum pneumatic tubes holding the tailgate open with a defective nut. If it fails, the tailgate can close suddenly.
To fix the issue, dealers will replace the entire power-operated tailgate drive unit with a new one.
