Volvo EX30 SUV to Further Electrify Lineup

Volvo EX30 Teaser image

Volvo is an automaker that is swiftly moving into the electric era. The Swedish brand has already pledged to go all-electric by 2030 and could possibly do it even faster than that as demand percolates.

To that end, Volvo recently debuted an all-new 3-row flagship electric SUV called the EX90. Interest was so high that initial orders for the electric vehicle (EV) “surpassed the company’s boldest and most ambitious internal projections,” causing Volvo to close its order books temporarily.

Now, Volvo is preparing to bookend the lineup with a small electric SUV called the EX30. Volvo says the EX30 will make its global debut on June 7, when it becomes available to reserve. If our admittedly rusty math skills are correct, the EX30 SUV will slot below the all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge compact SUVs currently for sale.

That’s About All We Know — For Now

Volvo announced the new model’s name and debut date but not much else. A brief press release simply ends by saying, “Thinking small is one of our biggest ideas.”

The accompanying teaser image only adds to the suspense, showing what appears to be a block wall with the brand’s name at the bottom. We’ll bring you more when the curtain is drawn — or the wall is moved — next month.
