Volkswagen T-Roc R Teased

  • Sportier version of T-Roc small SUV
  • Slated for global markets, but not U.S.
  • Set for Geneva debut

Volkswagen has released a teaser rendering of the VW T-Roc R, a sporty version of its subcompact crossover SUV, the T-Roc, which has been on sale globally since 2017. Both the T-Roc and T-Roc R won’t be sold in America however, word is that VW is working on a separate small SUV for the U.S. slotted beneath the Tiguan in the lineup.

Much like the Golf R, the T-Roc R is a hotter version that has a more powerful drivetrain, enhanced suspension and new front and rear styling that tip off the vehicle’s performance orientation. VW said that the vehicle has undergone development and testing on the famed Nordschleife (North Loop) of the Nürburgring racing circuit.

VW promises more details on specs and performance at the vehicle’s reveal during the Geneva Motor Show. The T-Roc R is a product of Volkswagen R, the German automaker’s performance unit.
