Volkswagen Recalls ID.4 Over High Voltage Battery

Volkswagen recalled 670 2023-2024 ID.4 SUVs due to misaligned electrodes in battery cells. In certain cases, this can lead to a fire. A quality deviation at the supplier was identified to be the cause.

Customers should be on the lookout for a loss of range and/or performance. Customers with vehicle concerns should visit a Volkswagen dealer to have their vehicle diagnosed.

Volkswagen will replace the battery cell modules at no cost. Until the repairs are made, customers should do the following:

  • Set the vehicle’s high-voltage battery system to 80% charge limitation
  • Avoid using Level 3 DC chargers
  • Park vehicles outdoors immediately after charging
  • Do not leave vehicles charging indoors overnight

Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone. To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your VIN number, license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
