Volkswagen has halted production of its ID. Buzz electric minivan.

Industry publication Automotive News cites “slowing demand” for the pause. Germany’s DPA press agency reports the stoppage will last just four days.

The ID. Buzz won the 2025 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award. Its playful, nostalgic ethos and an interior filled with clever touches (like console dividers that double as ice scrapers so you’re never without one) won over a jury of automotive journalists from dozens of countries.

Our editors found that it puts smiles on the faces of strangers and offers more cabin space than most minivans.

However, its surprisingly high price (starting at $61,545) and short range (peaking at 234 miles) have limited its appeal.

That could, however, give you negotiating leverage if you want one.

Car dealers traditionally aim to keep about a 75-day supply of new cars in inventory — 60 days on the sales lot and 15 more on order. KBB data shows that dealers had more than a 100-day supply of ID. Buzz models at the end of September.

The company “plans to step up marketing efforts and add incentives to boost demand,” AN reports.
