The Volkswagen e-Golf, upgraded for 2017, will be available in three trim levels: base SE, Limited and top-of-the-line Limited Premium. The SE has a starting price of $31,315, including destination, an increase of $1,500 from last year. The SE comes standard with features such as LED taillights, 8-inch touchscreen display, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control and a 7.2 kW on-board charger. SE buyers can also get a DC Fast Charging package for $995. Moving up to the new Limited trim level, pricing starts at $34,615. The Limited comes with DC Fast Charging capability and leatherette seats, as well as park distance control with maneuver braking. Maneuver braking, which comes late in the model year, is designed to help the driver avoid hitting a stationary object while parking. If you do hit something, maneuver braking is said to reduce the effects of a collision when parking. Opt for the top trim level, the SEL Premium, and the price starts at $37,815, up by $1,400 over 2016. In addition to more standard features, the SEL Premium offers the $1,395 option of a driver assistance package, which includes Volkswagen‘s 12.3-inch Digital Cockpit gauges, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, park assist, and light assist. The driver assistance package will be available later in the model year.

The restyled plug-in e-Golf offers an EPA-estimated range of 125 miles, a significant increase from the 2016 model’s 83-mile range. Efficiency has also increased: while the e-Golf’s EPA-estimated mpg-e remains 126 mpg-e in the city, as it was last year, combined and highway economy have improved. The upgraded electric motor puts out 134 horsepower (up from 115) and 214 lb-ft of torque (15 more than last year).
