Uber is expanding a program that gives drivers grants to switch to electric vehicles. This program was initially for drivers in New York City, California, Massachusetts, and Colorado, but is now expanding nationwide.

Incentive Details

The “Go Electric” incentive is meant to supplement the removal of the $7,500 federal tax credit and help drivers make the switch amid concerns about rising gas prices. The incentive is available for Platinum and Diamond drivers who switch to an EV and complete 100 eligible rides by Dec. 31, 2026. Uber notes that drivers must apply for the incentive prior to switching to an EV.

Uber Discounts

The Go Electric grant isn’t the only perk Uber drivers can enjoy when switching to an EV. Kia offers Uber drivers an exclusive $1,000 discount on a new Niro EV or EV6, and a $1,500 discount on a new EV9.

An Electric Future

All these initiatives are part of Uber’s commitment to an all-electric future. “We’ll keep doing our part by helping lower costs alongside our partners and working with charging companies and cities to improve access to high-quality infrastructure,” said Andrew Cornelia, Global Head of Electrification and Sustainability at Uber. “As this shift accelerates, it means more savings for drivers and cleaner air and cities for everyone,”
