Toyota Teases Next Camry as AWD, Hybrid Model

You’ve heard it over and over — Americans have moved away from sedans and into SUVs. It’s true, but some perspective is in order.

Americans bought 295,201 Toyota Camry sedans in 2022. The entire Lexus brand sold 258,704. The Camry alone is a bigger business than Lexus. It outsold the entire Dodge brand last year and nearly outsold Dodge and Chrysler combined.

Sedans remain big business. And a new Camry, which we’re getting soon, is a big deal.

Last month, Toyota released a teaser photo. Today, they released another. This time, the company confirms it’s a Camry.

“The next-generation Toyota Camry will debut on November 14th,” the company says.

There’s one other piece of news in the new photo. It shows little of the car but includes a pair of badges — one for a hybrid drivetrain and one for all-wheel drive (AWD). Toyota has sold AWD Camry sedans and hybrid Camry sedans in the past, but never both in the same vehicle.

That may hint that the upcoming model will share powertrains with the Crown, Toyota’s most recent new sedan. It comes with a choice of two hybrid powertrains, both with AWD.
