Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru have recalled 94,320 electric vehicles of a shared design because their defroster and defogger systems can fail.
Recalled models include the:
- 2023-2025 Subaru Solterra
- 2023-2025 Lexus RZ
- 2023-2025 Toyota bZ4X
All three share components, part of a joint project that sees Toyota and Subaru develop some cars together. Lexus is Toyota’s luxury brand.
The companies tell the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a software problem can cause the vehicles’ HVAC systems to enter a fail-safe mode, which keeps the defroster from working effectively.
Dealers will fix the problem with a software update.
