Toyota has released three teaser photos showing design features of an all-new 2026 RAV4. America’s best-selling SUV and third-best-selling vehicle of any kind, the RAV4 is due for a complete redesign for the next model year.
Toyota will show the thing off in full tomorrow night.
For now, they’ve given us glimpses that suggest a boxier, brawnier look. A detail of a front fender in the snow shows an angular design, with the kind of black plastic body cladding ubiquitous on vehicles meant to leave the pavement.
A shot of the grille shows an upright face, with what may be a light bar stretching across the nose. A tailgate detail shows wraparound piano-key LEDs in red, giving it an almost 1980s vibe. The RAV4 name is stretched across above the license plate in a squat font.
The photos confirm what we expected — Toyota is leaning toward the rugged look. Most SUV designs have gained boxier lines this year, as design trends lean decidedly toward hard edges again.
We also expect Toyota to drop the purely gas-powered model from the lineup. With recent redesigns of its popular Camry midsize sedan and Sienna minivan, the company has gone hybrid-only. This has simplified the company’s building process and not hurt sales, so taking the same step with its best-selling model seems logical.
We’ll reveal more after tomorrow’s unveiling.
