One of the most unique and fun cars on the road is getting slightly more accessible for the 2024 model year. Toyota has added a new trim level to its GR Corolla hot hatch – perhaps a sign that they plan to produce enough of the rare, pint-sized racer to make the cars a little easier to find.
For the uninitiated, the GR Corolla was a delightful recent surprise for car enthusiasts. It’s technically part of the Corolla lineup, like Clark is technically a member of the Kent family. But its tiny 1.6-liter turbocharged engine puts out an incredible 300 horsepower. Its all-wheel-drive (AWD) system has a dial that adjusts the power split between the front and rear wheels. Its 6-speed manual transmission (the only transmission Toyota builds it with) has throws so short it made our Lyn Woodward scream with delight.
But the little thing has been hard to find, with most sold by special order before ever reaching dealership lots.
For 2024, Toyota won’t change much because it’s nearly perfect as it is. But the automaker has announced a new trim level called Premium. It slots above the Core edition and below the track-primed Circuit model.
The GR Corolla Premium gets front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials, red brake calipers, and suede-trimmed heated seats.
The Core and Circuit models also return, with a new color – Blue Flame – offered on the latter.
Toyota’s notice to journalists, however, doesn’t mention the extraordinary Morizo edition available last year. Named for the racing alter-ego of the company’s former CEO, it offered even more power and a transmission with tighter gear ratios. But it appears not to have made it to 2024.
2024 Toyota GR Corolla Pricing
For 2023 models, Toyota also charges a mandatory $1,095 destination fee. The company hasn’t disclosed a destination fee for 2024, but rest assured there will be one.
Trim Level | MSRP |
Core | $36,100 |
Premium | $39,920 |
Circuit | $44,740 |
