Tesla has recalled just 27 copies of its Model Y SUV from model year 2024 because the frames of their front seats may not be properly welded.
The recall is limited to seats built on specific dates. However, customers may be unable to determine the build date of their car’s seats. They’ll need to wait for notice from Tesla to know if they’re affected.
Tesla tells federal safety officials that “the weld which attaches the seat recliner mechanism to the seat back may not have sufficient penetration to assure the durability and integrity of the seat assembly.” In a crash, the seat back might collapse, “increasing the risk of injury.”
Tesla says customers might notice rattling noises or have difficulty reclining their seats as the weld loosens.
Tesla technicians will replace the front seat assembly to fix the problem.
