Tesla has slashed prices on some of its most expensive products. The company’s most expensive cars – the high-performance Plaid editions of its top-of-the-line sedans and SUVs – now cost up to $29,000 less than they did just two months ago.
It’s the second round of Tesla price cuts this year. In late January, the company slashed prices across its lineup, lowering some by as much as 20%. The move also helped more buyers qualify for federal electric car tax incentives, further cutting the functional price for many buyers.

The move paid off, leading to a surge in interest in Tesla cars.
Tesla has now repeated it with its Model S sedan and Model X SUV. The new price cuts erase the price difference between Plaid editions of the two vehicles.
The move may help repeat the surge in interest January’s cuts triggered. At an investor event last week, CEO Elon Musk said, “We found that even small changes in the price have a big effect on demand, very big.”
