Teaser: 2024 Toyota Tacoma Features Removable Bluetooth Speaker

A teaser photo showing a removable Bluetooth speaker in the dashboard of the 2024 Toyota TacomaToyota will introduce an all-new Tacoma for the 2024 model year. But not soon enough.

The automaker has been dripping out teaser photos of the fourth-generation Taco for so long that any excitement over the upcoming midsize pickup is a distant memory, and the marketing team is clearly out of ideas.

Toyota began piecing out small details about the next Tacoma a month ago when we were all two years younger. At that point, a new Tacoma seemed like an exciting prospect. Filmmakers don’t make a seventh trailer for a reason.

The latest tease, posted to Instagram, shows a removable JBL Bluetooth speaker. Photos show a hand removing it from a slot in the dashboard and the speaker sitting on the truck’s tailgate. That’s it. That’s what it has to offer. Sigh.

At press time, the top comment on the Instagram post read, “This is getting old.”  Getting?

Earlier reveals have hinted at a chunkier truck, more in keeping with designs from GMC than traditional Toyota truck styling. It will be offered with a hybrid powertrain and a Trailhunter overlanding trim built in partnership with Australian off-road specialists ARB.

Oh, and it will have wheels. The last teaser showed a wheel.

We did our best to be excited about the wheel. It will finally feature rear disc brakes — the current Tacoma is one of the last vehicles on the market with rear drum brakes.

But that was the last bit of energy we had for Tacoma teasers. We’re trying to wring water out of a rock with this speaker thing. Clearly, Toyota’s marketing team is, too. Among the automotive press, it’s famous for long press releases featuring florid language. This one was three sentences long.

Toyota, please just show the truck.
