- Subaru will soon announce a new electric vehicle, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted
- It’s likely based on the upcoming electric Toyota C-HR
Subaru will show off an all-new electric vehicle (EV) next week. The company has announced almost nothing about the car, saying only that it’s called the 2026 Subaru Uncharted.
A teaser photo gives us a little more to work with, but not much. It shows the Uncharted driving away from the camera, kicking up a trail of dust that obscures much of its shape. But we think we see just enough to make an educated guess.
The shot shows a compact or subcompact SUV in red with a black floating roof design and a distinctive two-peaked roofline spoiler. We’ve seen that same look on another recent EV debut — the 2026 Toyota C-HR.
Toyota and Subaru have a close relationship. Subaru’s other two planned 2026 EVs are built in partnership with Toyota and have Toyota twins. The 2026 Subaru Solterra is essentially the 2026 Toyota bZ with Subaru badges and tuning. The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker, a larger new electric SUV, has a similar clone in the 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland.
Toyota plans to bring back the recently retired C-HR name in 2026 on a subcompact electric SUV with up to 338 horsepower and a range of 290 miles. Press photos of that car show a red body, a black roof, and that distinctive two-peaked roofline spoiler.
So the Uncharted is likely a Subaru take on the C-HR. We’ll bring more information next Thursday when Subaru plans to reveal the Uncharted in full.
