Subaru will use this week’s New York International Auto Show to reveal its second electric vehicle (EV). That’s nearly all we’re allowed to tell you for now. But we can reveal the car’s name: Get ready for the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker.
Subaru sent journalists a closeup photo of its badge, revealing nearly nothing about the car it will adorn. A single sentence attached to the press release calls the Trailseeker an SUV.
It’s the second all-electric Subie, following on the heels of the Solterra compact SUV. The Solterra is the product of a joint project with Toyota, matching that brand’s bZ4X. Our editors like the Solterra’s spacious cabin and standard all-wheel drive (AWD) but find its range middling and its charging speed less than middling.
The Trailseeker may sit on an all-new platform but will likely still have a Toyota twin. Subaru revealed last year that the brand planned three more EVs by 2026, built on another platform shared with Toyota.
We’ll bring more when Subaru has more to say. Vehicle debuts to the media begin Wednesday, and the New York auto show opens to the public on Friday.
