The Subaru BRZ is affordable fun. That won’t change for 2023, but in a year when supply chain problems are making every aspect of building a car more expensive, prices will go up slightly.
The BRZ is an old-school, rear-wheel-drive “2+2” (two real seats for adults up front, two small seats best suited for children in the back) sports car. It shares nearly 100% of its parts with the Toyota GR 86 – the differences between the two are mostly small matters of styling.
The BRZ uses a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine making 228 horsepower. Transmission choices are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Test drivers love its stiff chassis, sporty suspension, and sub-$30,000 starting price.
None of those things change for 2023. The car was fully redesigned for the 2022 model year and needed little update. Subaru has made the mist feature of the variable windshield wipers speed-sensitive so that it throws less wiper fluid on the car behind it at highway speeds and given owners the ability to customize how the paddle shifters on automatic transmissions respond. Prices are up by $600 for manual-equipped models and $500 for automatic-equipped BRZs. The destination fee has also risen by $60 – a function of the growing cost of transporting cars.
2023 Pricing:
