Stellantis Plans to Launch 25 EVs by 2030, Be Carbon Neutral by 2038

2023 Jeep Unnamed EVThe third of America’s Big Three automakers plans to launch at least 25 new electric vehicles by the end of the decade. It hopes to reach carbon neutrality by 2038.

Stellantis isn’t a household name to most Americans, but many of its products are. Formed by a merger early last year, it’s now the globe’s sixth-largest automaker. It runs some of America’s most established brands. It’s the parent company of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and lesser-known Fiat and Alfa Romeo.

The company this week announced plans for all of its European sales and half of its American sales to be electric cars by the year 2030.

75 EVs Worldwide, 25 Here

The company unveiled an ambitious product plan that will see it launch 75 new EVs globally by the end of the decade. Twenty-five will reach our shores.

Stellantis provided glimpses of a few. They include the first all-electric Jeep, still unnamed but unmistakable. An all-electric Ram 1500 pickup will bow in 2024. Dodge’s first “electric muscle car” will debut later this year.

Other efforts include an all-electric Ram ProMaster cargo van for fleets and Chrysler’s first electric vehicle, likely based on the Airflow Concept unveiled in January.

Several Going Electric-Only

The Chrysler brand will be fully electric by 2028. It’s worth noting, however, that the lineup wearing the Chrysler badge is quite small these days. The company makes just four vehicles — the aging 300 sedan, and well-reviewed Pacifica, Pacifica hybrid minivans, as well as a Voyager minivan now available only to fleets.

Stellantis now says its ultra-luxe Maserati brand and Alfa Romeo performance lineup will be electric-only by 2030.

Later this year, Stellantis also plans to unveil its own partial-automation system to rival GM’s Super Cruise and Ford’s Blue Cruise hands-free highway drivers.
