Stellantis – the parent company of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram, has recalled 1,033,433 cars in the U.S. because their backup cameras may not function properly.
Affected models include the:
- 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica
- 2021-2022 Dodge Durango
- 2022-2023 Jeep Compass
- 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee
- 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
- 2022-2023 Jeep Wagoneer
- 2022 Ram 1500
- 2022 Ram 2500
- 2022 Ram 3500
- 2022-2023 Ram Promaster
The company tells federal safety regulators that the backup cameras are likely fine, but the vehicles may have radio software that prevents their screens from displaying the rearview camera image.
Dealers can fix the problem with a simple software update. But most of these vehicles can’t receive software updates over the air, so owners will need to bring them in for dealers to install the patch. Software updates are among the quickest service appointments.
Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
