Some Lucid Air EVs Recalled for Wiring Problem

Lucid has recalled 1,539 Air electric sedans from model years 2024 and 2025 because a wiring harness can disconnect from the rear motor.

Some of the recalled cars are rear-wheel drive (RWD) and will lose drive power completely without the rear motor. Others have a motor on both axles and can still be driven but will lose performance with one motor disconnected.

The company tells federal safety officials at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the problem is a short wiring harness. Without enough slack in the wires, the harness can pull loose, disconnecting the rear motor.

If this happens, some owners will lose power entirely. Others will notice the car seems sluggish and may see many warning messages on the driver’s screen.

The company will fix the problem by replacing the wiring harness with one that is long enough to meet specifications.
