Rivian Recalls R1S and R1T Over Seat Belt Assembly

A Rivian R1S seen parked in the wild.

Rivian has recalled 435 R1S SUVs from model years 2022 to 2026 and 434 R1T trucks from 2022 to 2025 due to improperly secured seat belt retractors that may not adequately restrain the seat occupant during seat belt loading, increasing the risk of injury.

Vehicle occupants may hear a rattling noise from the retractor location, indicating that the seat belt retractor is not properly secured.

Rivian is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue and says it will “inspect, and, if necessary, properly secure the seat belt retractor assembly in any affected vehicles free of charge.” The fix is securing a seat belt assembly with a properly installed bolt.
