Rivian Recalls 17,000 Over Headlight Failure

The Rivian R1T and R1S

Rivian has recalled 17,260 R1T pickups and R1S SUVs from model year 2025 because their low-beam headlights may not activate in the cold.

The company tells federal safety officials that some headlamps “do not meet current production specifications due to incorrectly configured parts from the supplier.” The problem occurs only in vehicles built between April 29, 2024, and Feb. 3, 2025. However, it can be impossible to determine the build date of your car on your own.

Most owners will need to wait for a recall notice or contact the company to find out if the recall affects their Rivian.

Rivian will fix the problem by replacing the headlamp control module on affected vehicles.

As with all recall repairs, the fix is free. Manufacturers attempt to contact every owner, but they don’t always reach them all with the news. Find out if your car has ever been recalled at our recall center.
