- A new report says Genesis will discontinue its G70 sedan after 2027
- Genesis says there are no plans to discontinue the model at this time
The Genesis G70 tops our list of the Best Luxury Compact Cars. Our test drivers love its sporty driving experience, colorful interior choices, and the value it offers, combining a great price with the industry’s longest warranty. But even being the best may not be enough to save a sedan in SUV-loving America.
A new report says Genesis may cancel the sedan after the 2027 model year.
We’re a little skeptical. Industry publication Automotive News cites unidentified “analysts” in its report. The G70 remains the third-best-selling of nine Genesis models in the 2025 model year. A Genesis spokesperson says only, “Genesis will continue to offer models that meet the needs of U.S. consumers, and we don’t have plans to discontinue G70 at this time.”
But it is a distant third behind two much more popular Genesis SUVs, the GV70 and GV80. It also trails the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class in sales — more expensive cars it outranks in our list.
