The Lexus GX is a radically different car for 2024. A new redesign kept the vehicle’s vaunted off-road prowess but wrapped it in boxier styling and made it more fuel-efficient than ever. But the improvements come with a significant price boost.
For 2024, the GX will start at $64,250. You may see it advertised for $62,900, but Lexus also charges a mandatory $1,350 destination fee. That’s more than $4,000 higher than the 2023 model’s price, with delivery fee included.
New from the ground up, the 2024 GX gets power from a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6, sending 349 horsepower to all four wheels — about a 16% power boost over the standard V8 in the 2023 model. The towing capacity is a respectable 8,000 pounds.
And you will see a GX pulling a trailer. The GX has always been the Lexus people take to the trails and the lake. Honoring that, Lexus offers a new Overtrail model with off-road gear like an electronic locking rear differential, an aluminum skid plate, black-accented fender flares, and 33-inch all-terrain tires.
But it’s still a Lexus inside. Even the base model gets heated and ventilated front seats. A gorgeous new dashboard that emphasizes horizontal lines for a more spacious feel and carries a substantial 14-inch multimedia touchscreen. Designers use semi-aniline leather in the top models, leaving synthetic NuLuxe upholstery for the lesser trims.
A 21-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system is available.
