Mercedes-Benz has recalled 82 GLE 350 4Matic SUVs from model years 2025-2026 because they may have the wrong seat belt installed in the rear center seating position.

The company tells federal safety officials that “a seat belt variant without the additional child seat protection function might have been installed” in the vehicles. It should be safe for most occupants, but will not lock properly to secure a child safety seat.

Newer child safety seats utilize the LATCH anchor system, eliminating the need for a belt. But some parents might still have older, pre-LATCH safety seats.

The company is aware of no accidents or injuries related to the problem, which the seat belt supplier discovered. Dealers will replace the belt to fix the problem.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
