Ford and its Lincoln luxury division have issued a recall for 90,736 vehicles equipped with certain engines because they can lose propulsion suddenly. The automaker plans to inspect the vehicles and replace the entire engine if necessary.

Recalled models include the:

Every recalled vehicle uses either a 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter V6 engine. These engines, Ford says, “may contain intake valves that have a propensity to crack and break. An engine intake valve that fails may lead to catastrophic engine damage resulting in a loss of motive power.”

Dealers will inspect the engines to determine whether the valves are at risk of breakage. For vehicles with low mileage, the inspection may include running the engines at high revolutions.

They’ll then replace the entire engine if necessary.

Recall repairs are always free.
