Volkswagen has issued a recall order for about 6,500 2017-2021 Tiguan SUVs because their rear spoilers can separate and fly off at speed, becoming dangerous highway projectiles.
The recall doesn’t affect every 2017-2021 Tiguan with a spoiler. Some had their spoilers installed at the factory. VW has received no reports of those spoilers failing. Others had spoilers installed later, at the port or dealership. Those may be improperly attached.
VW dealers will install a new spoiler to replace the potentially loose model.
Recall repairs are always free.
