Volkswagen is recalling 79,953 copies of its ID.4 electric vehicle from model years 2021 through 2023 because their instrument displays and center screens may sporadically go blank or reboot while driving.
That can leave their drivers without critical information like speed or access to backup cameras.
VW tells federal safety officials at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) the problem is software-related. Volkswagen is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue.
Dealers will fix the problem with a software update.
