Recall Alert: VW ID.4

2022 VW ID.4Volkswagen has issued a recall order for about 21,000 2021 ID.4 electric vehicles because they can lose power while driving.

Volkswagen says a software problem can cause a battery management control module to reboot itself unexpectedly. That shuts down power temporarily. Steering and braking functions continue to work when the problem occurs, but the vehicle loses forward power.

Volkswagen says it changed the software during the ID.4 production run, so not every 2021 ID.4 is affected by the recall.

Dealers can fix the problem with a software update, but that module can’t receive updates over the air. Volkswagen will contact owners by the end of March to schedule the repair.

Recall repairs are always free.
