Toyota has launched a recall campaign for 2022-2023 Tundra full-size trucks equipped with dealer-installed tonneau covers. The covers, Toyota says, can detach from the trucks and fly off at speed.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) doesn’t list the recall on its website yet. But, in a statement, Toyota says it is still working on a fix for the problem that affects about 130,000 Tundra pickups.
In the meantime, the automaker asks owners to remove their tonneau covers so they don’t pose hazards to other drivers.
When Toyota has a solution for the problem, the fix will be free.
