Toyota has issued a recall for about 46,000 2022 Tundra pickup trucks due to a potential issue with the rear axle nut. The Tundra is an entirely new design for 2022, and the recall affects only the 2022 model.
The trucks, Toyota explains, “have certain nuts on the rear axle assembly that can loosen over time.” If they loosen completely, they could cause the axle subassembly to separate from the axle. That “can affect vehicle stability and brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.”
Dealerships will inspect the nuts and, if necessary, tighten them to the proper torque. If any parts appear worn from loosening axle nuts, dealers will replace them.
