Tesla has recalled 294 Model S sedans and Model X SUVs from model years 2024 and 2025 because their driver’s side airbags may have been torn during the assembly process.
An airbag with a tear in it may not protect the driver in an accident.
Tesla tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a supplier identified the problem and alerted the company. Tesla was able to isolate the issue to a single shipment of parts.
The company will fix the problem by replacing the airbag assembly. Recall repairs are always free.
