Recall Alert: Subaru Crosstrek, Impreza, Forester

Subaru is issuing two recalls affecting about 870,000 2017 through 2019 models of its Crosstrek, Impreza, and Forester.

The first recall affects about 470,000 2017 through 2019 Impreza hatchback and Crosstrek crossovers due to a stalling problem. These vehicles may have ignition coils that deteriorate faster than expected. Subaru says the problem is quite rare and has led to no accidents or injuries. The automaker will recall nearly half a million cars to inspect them but expects to find the problem in only a small percentage of that number.

Dealers will replace the ignition coils if needed and update the engine control unit to help it better detect the problem if it should develop later.

Separately, the automaker is also recalling about 400,000 2019 Crosstrek and Forester vehicles that may have loose rear stabilizer bracket bolts. The problem could damage the rear suspension. Again, Subaru is aware of no accidents or injuries. Dealers will inspect the bolts and re-torque them if necessary.

Recall repairs are always free. Many vehicles are recalled, sometimes more than once, during their useful lives. Automakers try to find every owner to let them know but don’t always reach everyone. Check whether your car has ever been recalled with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
