Land Rover is recalling about 15,000 2016-2017 Range Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs to fix a seatbelt defect.
The problem concerns seatbelt emergency locking retractors – devices that lock a seatbelt in place to hold passengers firmly to their seats in an accident. Land Rover explains, “the driver’s seat belt emergency locking retractor may not lock as intended.”
The recall doesn’t apply to every Range Rover and Range Rover Sport from the 2016 and 2017 model years. Only those built at the company’s Solihull Manufacturing Plant from April 29, 2016, to October 17, 2016, may have the defect.
Land Rover dealers will inspect the seatbelts and replace defective retractors if necessary.
