If the high beams turn on when you signal a turn in your Ram truck, you’re not losing your mind. If your turn signals turn on and never turn off, it’s not you.
Ram has issued a recall for about 142,000 trucks because their lighting is just chaos at this point. The recall affects some, but not all, units of the:
- 2023 Ram 1500 Classic
- 2023 Ram 3500 Classic
- 2023 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab
- 2023-2024 Ram 2500
- 2023-2024 Ram 3500
- 2023-2024 Ram 4500
- 2023-2024 Ram 5500
Ram tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the problem is in the circuitry of the steering column control module. Some are fine. Others have a manufacturing defect that can leave the turn signal on after a turn or even activate the high beams with the turn signal, temporarily blinding other drivers.
Dealers will inspect the trucks and replace the steering column control module if their lighting won’t behave. By law, dealers don’t charge for recall repairs.
Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
